hi all was driving along last night when i heard a whining noise, pulled over to have a look and it looks like something has fallen out as theres a threaded clean hole there. just wondered if anyone could help me please???

Hi,

That's the gearbox drain plug. You've probably lost most of your gearbox oil so don't drive it.

Get another from a breakers yard or from Citroen and topup the gearbox oil.

The whining may mean that a bearing, or bearings, may need to be replaced.

thats the drain plug hole for the gearbox oil,hence why its whinning as there will be no oil in it.dont drive it until you put the plug in and 2 litres of gearbox oil in otherwise you will completley fook the box up.

so i just need a new gearbox drain plug?? and oil, its only a slight whine... so fingers crossed ill be ok, as i only put this box in a month ago! will try get hold of one today.. thanks for your help :)

yea thats all you will need.the whine should go but if not it mean its fooked.but if it was only a quite whine it should be ok.

ok, it wasnt too bad, but i just come straight home lol. and gotta wait till friday to get one :(

Looks like you never tightened it up properly. ;)
