Will soon be conducting a 16v conversion to my vtr.

I have a vts box but its got a lovely crack around the casing, thus meaning that i need a new casing.

will the casing of any* box fit? (* = and by that i mean 1.1, vtr, 1.4 etc. etc.)

Thanks,

Joe

Hi,

That's a good question. Really not sure but I think the VTR and VTS have a bigger crown/pinion wheel (17x61) and if it is physically bigger then the area that the crown wheel fits into may be too small on non VT* models.

So in your case you could use your VTR case for your VTS box. But the performance gurus may suggest putting the VTR box on the VTS to get to the next set of lights quickest...

The vtr is the slowest of the boxes in general. Well the highest gearing in the lower gears and final drive. So i would either get another vts box, or a 1.1, or an xsi box etc. for best performance.

you wouldnt fit a vtr box to get to the next set of traffic lights quickest lol you'd do it to get there the slowest mind...

never use a vtr box with a vts!! i have one on my vts at the moment ( not that i want to) they are rubbish dude. i would say get a vts box, should be about to sawp internal over i would say.

I hope you right, looks like thats another job before the engine actually goes in, might just get a fewk'd 'r box and swap the casings over.

i dont mind my vtr box on my vts mate, i still think its a very quick car compared to similar cars, ive never had a vts box on my engine but have had a 1.1 box and i have driven my friends 106 gti, and mine feels quicker then his gti but his is completely standard and a lot more refined so it might be because mines more "raw" why it feels quicker, but my car still puts a smile on my face which is the most important thing to me lol

well i can say that going from the vts box to the vtr was rubbish it totally lose the quickness though the gears like i said it will make a different as think about it this way more teeth harder for the engine to pick up the revs the less teeth the easier the engine will pick the revs up!!

and as vts power band is high in the rev range want to get back to the power band fast as possible.
