Hi Everyone my friend has a mk2 saxo VTR which has been converted to a VTS.He bought this off someone else and had been driving it for 3months before it packed in.The car has been sitting in the drive for ages and hes offered it to me for 700 cuid.Only problem is theres been 2 mechanics that have looked at it. the first hooked it up 4 diagnostic and it came up no faults.second one stripped engine and couldnt find anything.but the engine is trying to turn but no end result. Not a lot of info folks but could someone help me out before my money goes down the pan! its also got brembo brakes of a 406 cheers

a new engine will be peanuts from a scrap yard or ebay cheaper than a mechanic doing it by miles

even still....£700 seems a bit steep for what is essentially a "non-runner"??

I wouldnt pay £700 for it, can buy a fully working car for that. Get the price down then maybe you could have a bargain, but it all depends on how much time and money you're willing to spend to make it work properly, might be a simple fault as others have said with it being an immobiliser, so could try disconnecting the battery so it resets the system, but it depends how much of a risk you want to take.
No for £700 though
