Heskey is alright, but there's no gusto or buzz around the pitch, no one looking for a smart pass or over-lapping runs. Havn't seen 5 passes strung together yet.

I am sat here in my gazza italia 90 shirt feeling fully embarrassed !

No emotion from the players, nothing to cheer about.

I have seen all the games today & there is fuck all way England can beat the slovinians.

They can't even get the ball of the fucking algerian who have never even won a fucking game !

The team of italia 90 would hammer these !

Come on England fire up !

Or are the just thinking about what to spend their match fee on ?

Rooney needs to catch the next plane back to England

He actually reminded me of Vinnie Jones in that Mean Machine film...when he is trying to throw the game by making inconspicuous mistakes and giving the ball away, making half arsed attempts etc

Only difference is Vinnie Jones changed his tune and turned the game around, which is what England need to do

The team just looked tired and dejected. I don't think Capello is the right man for the job, he can't seem to motivate them. I know some of you are thinking that they are playing for England in the world cup so they shouldn't need motivation but there there seemed to be no drive in their perfrmance. Although i'm as frustrated to fuck like every other England fan that we played shit and didn't get a decent result i don't think booing our own team is the answer. Yeah, he was one of the greats, along with Shearer and the rest. Just a shame Gazza has had problems later in life.

its sad but he was admitted to the mental hospital in the village where i live, now he's in hospital again.

arguably the greatest football player in the world at the time in 1990.

But the pride he had for the honour of wearing the england shirt was awsome, he would have played for free.

Lineker was also a battler & as long as he was on the field there was always a hope of a goal.

Rooney used to be like that, but i don't know whats happened.

That is why i wear my gazza italia 90 number 19 shirt with pride.

Capello is genuinely losing his grip on the team. He controls via fear, and an autocratic method is not going to win many fans, not least the England team. We need someone who genuinely relates to the players, yet still harnesses the professionalism.

Gus Hiddink is the only guy that comes to mind who could genuinely make a difference.

England are actually and officially shit.

Disagree on every point.

Rooney needs to fuck off and grow up. If he can't accept boos then he shouldn't be playing at this level. Any player worth his salt in that England team should look upon the boos as a kick up the backside. Fans have paid thousands to watch this shower of shit and that performance was unacceptable and shameful. These guys are paid around £100k per week. Deal with the pressure, take responsiblilty and stop moaning at the fucking fans. Pathetic.

As for Rob Green, he's never been a keeper. I'd put him on the first plane home and retire him permanently from the England team. Not just because of his mistake either. He is more than used to seeing the ball fly past him for West Ham and clearly can't cope with the big ocassion. Garbage, and he'll let us down again too given the chance.

I don't know where we go from here.

I really hope your right i think David would be the best manager in a long time, because he knows how to play his players because hes played with them and knows what they can do and what they cant etc etc like not playing the predictable formation that fabio seems to love, i dont think he knows any other ones :wall:

Good point. Soldiers are giving their all for our country, and these lame excuses of humans are more interested in what hairstyle to have next etc. I've never felt it before, but seriously, now I do; our footballers are overpaid lazy and idiotic people who do not deserve even half of what they earn.

Sickens me knowing soldiers/nurses and others get a pittance for doing a job that ACTUALLY is worthwhile and makes a POSITIVE change to our society.

Knew this thread would be hot.

Change is needed within the team, whether they be drastic or slight, there needs to be changes. Change the formation, get rid of Heskey, stop the "lucky long balls" going in, just change something Capello for fucks sake.

Secondly, the attitude, it needs changing aswell, they sometimes either seem lackluster or like rabbits in the headlights, we have quality players, Gerrard, one of the most sought after holding-mid's in the world seemed out of position, Rooney, prolific goal scorer looked like he just simply couldnt be arsed. Lampard didnt want the ball and the rest looked leggy, weary and oh so terrible.

If we want any chance of getting through to the last 16, we need change in the team.

Its been nice to see loads and loads of St.George flags everywhere you go, everywhere you look someone is hanging one out of their car windows, or up on their houses. The support is and always has been there, its the players that need a good fuckin' telling off, a kick up the arse, and to show their true quality, which so far nobody has seen, not just from England, but from most teams in this world cup.

And for Wayne Rooney to say what he did at the end, well..he's probably lost alot of fans with that one sentence.

I have the upmost respect to all the soldiers/nurses and the rest who do do a decent job for our society but unfortunately their pay is down to the government.

I really hope your right i think David would be the best manager in a long time, because he knows how to play his players because hes played with them and knows what they can do and what they cant etc etc like not playing the predictable formation that fabio seems to love, i dont think he knows any other ones :wall:

exactly its clear as day thats the intentions. if im the only one who can see this then you all need to go to spec savers. its an obvious move that will happen. think of all the other england players who became the manager! beckham is on his last legs with regards to playing on the pitch for england (no one can argue that its just fact age, injuries) so whats the next best one for him to still stay apart of it? oh yeh manager or at the most assistant! just like maradona has done & all the others before him with other teams!

Don't think Maradona will last that long tbh. I loved what he apparently said about the french though...
Something along the lines of ''Pele is a fossil and should go back to the museum'' and ''Platini is French so that says it all, you can't say hello and bye to a Fench person without them making a fuss of it.'' Iirc anyway.

when you win the coach is the last to be thanked, but when you loose the coach is the first to be blamed!

I can't be asked to read through the 7 pages of talk on this thread so here's my opinion;

- The first 2 England group games are played at altitude, the rest aren't. The team struggled at altitude because we simply can't play at them heights.

- Team tactics were wrong, Seemed like Gerrard should be played just behind Rooney.

- People have slated Heskey all night! WTF are you thinking?! The past 2 games he is one of the only players that has turned up and put out a performance.

- Wait till we get games at Sea Level, i.e. Slovenia, watch how England WILL put in a performance and show what we really have got!

Next weeks team;

James

Johnson Dawson Terry A.Cole

- - Lampard Carrick J.Cole
Gerrard
Rooney Heskey

Couldn't pass, couldn't control the ball, couldn't be bothered to run !

If that's what representing the country means to them , then maybe their passporsts should be revoked & they can stay in fucking south Africa.

Last night I was bemused & dissapointed , this morning after watching the ordeal again I am fucking angry !

Tactics are only 20%, 80% is effort, pride & skill.

If they don't turn in a good performance on Wednesday ( win or loose) & show some passion, non of them should ever wear the shirt again !

Where are the world class performances to say we are any good?
we just think we are and we are not !!
As a team we are no better than Algeria that's the proven fact!
we as a nation think we are good, but I am afraid that's not fact, I'm sorry to say, it's just hype and expectation
I don't understand why everyone expects us to be so good!
I want us to win don't get me wrong
the thing is we are not that good as a national team anymore, we've been nowhere near world class for 40 years!
we even struggle to qualify for world and European competitions nowadays, we didn't even qualify for the last euro cup,
it's all hype we are just not very good I'm afraid that's the fact

England (0) 2 Croatia (2) 3
Outclassed, outfought and outthought, England are out of Euro 2008 and Steve McClaren will surely be out of work after the FA board meet this morning, deservedly so. Russia qualify behind the outstanding Croatians and England have only themselves, and their hapless manager, to blame.

I watched the game this morning, just to see if the alcohol had made them look worse than the were - Tbh, I turned it off after 45 mins, as it was embarrassing to watch.

The Premiership is renowned as the best league in the world, and we looked half arsed against a team of which the majority probably have full time jobs alongside playing football! We just don't have any pride anymore! Heskey looked busy and dangerous ( to himself ) his stepover was cringeworthy, and don't get me started on that sulking, scouse, ginger beard growing, overpaid, half evolved knuckle dragger!

Why even take Heskey over there? I mean, if his entire role is to hold the ball up, be strong, and feed Rooney, then there are several hundred guys playing Sunday league that could fill his shoes, and give his left bollock for it!

They also get paid for playing for England.

Lampard must wear concrete filled boots & a blind fold when playing for England. All he is thinking about is luxury holidays & fucking the irish bird off the one show.

Last night was utter shite, I hope they lose to Slovenia to prove a point, I want to be watching good games in the last 16, not games like last night

I don't understand why England have an Italian manager? Capello doesn't give a shit what the results are, he still gets his huge pay cheque every month, I would rather see an English manager who is passionate for the country, Capello must deep down be rooting for Italy ...

Italia '90, Sir Bobby Robson(RIP), Lineker, Gazza, Shilton, Waddle etc - that's what you call a true English team, passion and pride

All I saw last night was a bunch of overpaid ponces who couldn't be arsed, taking orders from an Italian who can barely string a sentence of English together

The only player who stood out for me last night was Ashley Cole, he looked like the only one who wanted to be there

Well, USA's goal was a fluke. I wouldn't say they played brilliantly against England, England are a 'better' team, but played poorly, USA are a 'poorer' team but didn't play awful - meaing 1 -1. But they stepped it up for their last game, and they would've beaten England had they played like that.

It was a new low for England against Algeria I admit, but I don't know what people were expecting coming into the world cup. The media have (as usual) been building England up way too much but when was the last time England really played well? Croatia?

The performance against the USA wasn't much different to all of our recent performances so wasn't a surprise to me, it's just a shame that they seem unable to gel as a team even after all these years of playing together.

dav0506
19th June 2010, 18:20
They get paid in a month what the supporters will earn in a lifetime .

I don't begrudge what the players are earning but what they earn is down to clubs they play for. Teams like Man C have a pot of never ending gold for an owner and will pay anything to get a player. The England players especially Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney play their bollocks off week in, week out and produce the kind of form that makes them world class, and are earning their £80,000 a week. Yet when playing for their country they're totally different players, and are not earning even a tenth of what they earn.

On paper England are better than all our three group opponents. I expected us to win our three group games with somewhat ease but actually being out on the pitch it's a different story.

Exactly - Spain, Italy, England and France have been the most dissapointing teams of this world cup. I expected much more from them, as some of the best teams in the world, they have the players, they just don't deliver. Dissapointing. Still, opens the door for the smaller teams to have a crack. Think alot of people need to calm down with Spain.

Italy, yes, poor..As youre probably watching now, but they thrive in grinding out tight, crucial wins when it matters, bloody hell they looked awful in 2006, but they won it.

France have their own problems, people going home, team morale low due to arguments and petty grudges, that sort of thing will always destroy a team.

But Spain, weve seen the biggest shock again the Swiss, but I reckon thats a one-off, maybe even a once in a lifetime thing, they'll turn up the heat against Honduras, and will make it through, they have the quality and the strength in depth.

People need to stop jumping the gun so quick, these are after all just the group stages.
