DVLA Rant

Due my having diabetes I have to get my driving license renewed every 3 years.

Not one of the things that is in the forefront of ouyr mind all them time, infact I completely forgot.

Recently I got caught speeding so had to send my license off, so send it all off and few days later it gets s ent back. Open the letter to find it says 'cannot process conditional offer due to expired license'. So for past 9 days Ihave effectively been driving without a license.

Fuming, go onto the DVLA website to find out how to apply for another license, first thing the site says 'we will send you reminder documents 90 days before your license is expired'. I got nothing.

So now I have to wait 7-10 working days to recieve a form from them, then I have to send off all relevant forms and wait again for up to 15 days. I cannot afford to be without a license as I have to drive 15 miles to work everyday and when I get there I need to be able to drive customers cars on roadtest, so now I am pretty much screwed for just under a month.

They are total wankers mate. I sent my license to get the address changed on it because I moved houses, 3 weeks later still no license. I rang them up and they said it might have got lost in the post, waited another 2 weeks still no license. Rang them up again and they said there's nothing they could do about it and made me pay for a new license.

I wouldnt pay id sooner drive without it to be fair if i had that much shit, dont have a lisence they cant take it from you the only worry is if you crash..........

Yes I take ultimate responsibility for it but they should have sent me reminder notices

I had loads of problems getting road tax refund from them, they even said the vehicle wasnt in my name, so I said they had been sending me reminders for last 3 years and I had paid, so would see them in court....it was sorted pretty damn quickly then

Im in court next week just because I refused to pay an £80 fine they tried giving me because they didnt recieve the new keepers slip that I DID send off.

Taking a Student earning £200/month to court, good luck with that one.
