so i sold an item on ebay on friday afternoon and recieved payment for it straight away, all well and good.

i then clicked 'order details' to get the guys address, and theres a note next to the details that says paypal are holding the money and 'view held payment details' which i proceeded to do.

basically paypal are going to hold the money for upto 21days or until feedback has been left buy the buyer.

now this leaves me in an awkward position as i now have to inform the buyer hes going to have to wait 21days for his item in which time the buyer may think im a scammer and file a dispute or pull out.

i wont be sending the item anywhere until the payment is in my account.

what would you do? my only thoughts are to cancel the transaction and do it the normal way as payments of goods directly through paypal so egay isnt involved??

Have you not been registered on ebay for very long or got negative feedback or low feedback score as thats when they do it.

You will get the money if they leave positive, if they leave neutral then you dont get the money until the 21 days are over and if they leave negative then same again but if they open a dispute then it goes like a normal paypal dispute through paypal and you might lose both money and the item.

You can tell the guy he has got to wait and if hes ok then all well, but if not then youll probably get negative feedback. You will get the money though :y:

i just dont get it tbh,

iv been on registered on ebay since 2007, sold many things before ranging from £10-£350 and never had these issues.

bought lots of things aswell, 100% positive feedback:geek:

going to put a constructive email together tonight with screenshots etc and inform the buyer, either way until the money is in my account im not sending it anywhere as iv been scammed on ebay before.

going to email paypal tomorro see what the crack is here as iv never had this trouble before.

As far as I know its standard procedure for ebay/paypal to do that, paypal will "hold" the money until the buyer leaves feedback, and as said if its positive feedback then paypal will release the money to your account, its there to try and prevent scams, so by telling the buyer he's got to wait will probably end up in him/her leaving negative feedback and possibly opening up a dispute as the money has gone from their account.

Send the item, and payment will come through. The buyer wont be able to scam you off by not paying. Its the way ebay works as far as I know

If you send recorded delivery, it only costs an extra 75p enter the tracking number in to dispatchd part of ebay.
Then once it has being signed for you contact them and they will release funds.
