If your going to drop your lump in, check over the body work, and under the car for rust etc, i recon you could get the price down a bit more as well :y:

Bit of an arse ache, but if you want mate, go for it. Shell in good condition at 139k?

Is the engine in it ok, if so, why change it? :geek:

If it dosent need much work just get it. Dont replace it straight away...whats the point in replacing a perfectly good engine when this replacment could go in and cuase problems like HG etc. The higher milage engine might run more reliably than the lower miled engine.

Dont replace a perfectly good engine, wait untill it dies then replace it.

Yep, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Thanks guys, he's asking a bit much for the price, but ill try and get it down a bit lol

he bought it from someone from pistonheads at £4**

and now is selling it for £800, he added 400 extra because he put a new clutch in there? lol

the bodywork looks okay, is missing the passenger side mirror and drivers side headlight trim, nothing really much but should I go for it? ;)

Tell him you'll give him £450 - £500 tops for it. How long has he had it? Can't expect to make a profit on that with missing mirror/trim/high mileage + having had use out of it.

Not for 800 quid you shouldn't! Especially without a mirror and a trim piece missing! Clutches are expensive, probably got an F1 car racing clutch for extra powwwarz

£800 quid, you on crack?

Got my 63k miler for £650. Buty realistically £800 is for something around 100k miles. And if your going to drop your lump in it, £800 isnt worth it just for the shell.

if its looking good bodywork and mechanics then leave it as is then you can always change it later! my old old car was on 190000 and rust free, still racin round untill i wrote it off... opps but one way to change the car fast lol

you can guarantee that if it has hit that amount of miles, it has been looked after...

bump him down to 500/ 600.

run it till the original engine dies... then chuck your lump in.

My wee GTi is gonna tick 116k today.... :D:D good lad! after that, ill rebuild it with something silly.... Better the Devil you Know!

Yer, theres better deals to be had mate.

i paid £900 for mine.

the body is immaculate. not a dent. no0thing missing. bang on.
the interior is immaculate, no rips/tears or burns

the engines done 60k

but it does have a weird whining noise which i think is the alternator. but happy days!

so long as it being serviced often and shell in good condition go for it, just check when you start it, there not smoke coming out the exhaust, signs of a worn engine, but like said dont pay more than £500 for it
