Tbh good on them if they do take it well, perhaps this country isn't all that bad
Once when I was driving through Kielder a RAF plane was doing a low pass towards me, I flashed my headlights at him and he flashed his headlights back at me, which was nice.

the thing is people dont think of this!
the navigator might be the head instructor teaching a pilot?
they did say they use the area for training did they not?
just because he is sat in the back and the Sunnews paper says 'navigator' does not mean he actually has to be one lol.
he might have more flight hours then the pilot lol.
if it was a 100% first trip out, never done navey work on a mock mission before then yeh its worth a bollocking but other then that its a good laught :D.

The guy in the back of 2 seater jets is usually weapon systems operator (wisop). Which is actually a higher paid job and harder to get into lol, but could also be a navigator.
Still a bit of light hearted fun never hurts :)

You obviously don't know any Royal Marines then. Same as the police who were on the childrens playpark. Lighthearted fun.

its wsop, and its definately easier to get than pilot!!!! trust me, i'm in the air force and was accepted for wsop.
i would rather be a pliot though but i can't just go as pilot so it isn't easier!
and its only really the weapon systems officer that gets to go in the fast jets. weapon systems operators are normally in rotary and multi engined aircraft.
so the guy in the back seat is a wso.
