Hello

Am in the process of selling my Twingo GT and getting a VTR/VTS

I would prefer the VTS obviously and at 22 with 2 years no claims and a spotless driving record (5 years driving, never claimed and no penalties etc) I assumed it would just be a slight increase on my insurance

Did some quotes to get a rough idea and £700 fully comp seemed reasonable with Elephant.

Anyway, phone my insurer First Direct and asked them to quote, was expceting an increase as I only have 4 months remaining with only two payments to make. They said they dont insure anyone on a VTS under the age of 28!!

I asked her to quote for a VTR and she said the price would be the same as im currently paying.

I am not in a tough position.....

Do I get a VTR, wait the 4 months for the policy to end and have 3 years no claims total
Get a VTS and take out a policy with Elephant at £700 fully comp but lose 8 months no claims
or pay off the remaining £100 on the current policy so I get the 3rd years no claims but also take out a policy with elephant with my current 2 years no claims

Ahhhh what to do!!!

Sell the Twingo, buy a cheap shitter to run round in for a couple of months and get the 3rd year ncb, then go find a nice vts, sack first direct off and go with elephant :y:

I'd wait mate until you get your 3rd ncb. Then switch company. No-one under 28 with a VTS, loads of companies better than them!
