Should of disconnected the battery, it might of activated the airbag system.

Open the bonnet and on the top far right hand side there is a Big red Button. Try and push it. it.

that thing you were talking about is the Self canceller/airbag module.

i will go down now and try it what happens then ? if the wires touch again? or can i remove them completele?

Jordysport

Well its your airbag module so if you want to have no airbag then go ahead it shouldn't do any harm, upto you though. and it acts as a self canceller for the indicators so you won't get that anymore.

just pressed it turned the keys and still no joy :(

ok may sound silly but is your battery connected?? lol forgot to reconnect it?? and what does it do does the lights illuminate?? Do your Hazard lights work?

liamowen123
26th June 2010, 11:55

liamowen123

the Self Canceller won't work if you remove that item, so when you indicate it wont cancel by itself you will have to take the indicator off.

Sounds like a battery problem, check the condition of the connections on the battery. and check the voltage in the battery. :y:

when you replace the module there's a little cog with an orange arrow on it. make sure the orange arrows line up when you replace it. Dont know why that's important but it was mentioned in the haynes manual.

wow, never heard of anyone mess up a bulb change this badly. you sir deserve a medal! when i changed my dials i held the airbag module (round thing) in one hand and followed the orange cable behind it until it reached the orange clip. unclipped that and pulled it all out to withdraw it. the two wires you're on about should really be insulated.

and with the round thing i have taken in out by the clip like holdawayt said and am now going to cut and re solder the wires back on the points and re place the broken pice of plastic that came off it as i found it on the floor under my pedals

Look here for polarity:

You might need a multimeter to find out wchich connection is which on your dash or alternatively follow the "tracks" of the instrument wiring.

to find the + and - on the leds use a multi meter, as for finding it on the circuit board the guy who did mine, who is a whizz with a solder iron said he wasn;t able to tell +and - on the board its self. but also said if your not de soldering the old leds properly and are soldering and resoldering same leds you could be cooking the leds so thats couls be one reason, or in worst case you may have cooked your circuit board
