i find after school/6th form they kinda just cast you out and your on your own, finding a jobs bloody difficult :(
I got a job at my work experience placement from College... been there 7 fucking years
*dies*
It's a good enough job, just the combo of poor pay and the fact I've been here so long makes it gash.

When I finished my engineering BTEC at college I tried for ages trying to get a decent engineering job. No one seems to give a shit in engineering unless you're at degree level. So I decided to go to uni in the end and I'm now studying mechanical engineering.
Bite the bullet and go for the degree mate, will be so much more worth it.

Are you implying that rather alot of people are staying unemployed cos they want their perfect job as apposed to something that will help them pay their own bills and take responsibility for their own lives?!
Ridiculous!

I went to Uni and did a placement year as part of my degree, got a placement at a good company and they offered me a graduate job which should set me up well for the future.
Uni does stand you in a lot of debt, but I'm 100% glad I went to Uni, and without it I wouldn't have the job and pay that comes with it. Having a degree does open a lot of doors, but don't underestimate the competition for jobs nowadays.

yeah, and then they moan at the polish for 'taking all the jobs' where as the polish are doing all the low paid, shitty jobs british people are not willing to do
i totally agree with you, if someday got made unemployed, and i had to work to keep my house or whatever, i would do anything in my power to keep it, but not everyone is like me
