Just because people don't want others to go on about "Two worlds wars" and use it to justify how it's okay to loose at football because 'we' 'beat' 'them' in a world war, doesn't mean you should downplay the importance of the British impact in WWII. They were hugely successful. And as well all know, by the time of the American intervention - Germany was on not going to be able to advance anymore.. Though it's actually retatrded to say "Russians/Americans/British/Canadians/Australlian/French/Polish won the war"... The ALLIES 'won' the war.

Russia were hardly part of the allies. Nevermind the Soviet-Nazi pact, the iron curtain etc. Russia weren't really working with the rest of the allies as the Americans and Britains (And a few of the French were). The Soviets came into the war as the Nazi's backstabbed them about the land they wanted and then tried to invade them, but the Russian weather caused the failure of the Nazi invasion. Just because Russia was against Germany never meant they were part of the allied forces along with Britain fighting with each other for a common cause. That's the reason the Berlin Wall was built, and Germany was split. Because the Russian's fought for land, the Americans/Britains fought for the freedom against the Nazis.

But good job on implying me downplaying the role of the British forces! Something I never said (But have studied a fair bit). Just to say, guess who was behind the one failure for the Britain/American forces. Montgomery for being too stubborn.

Perhaps the Russians could have 'won Europe by themselves", we'll never know, We do however know that in West Europe, by the time any sizeable American force had landed, British and French (and for that matter Polish etc) were already holding Germany, they had ran out of steam, as you should know Blitzkrieg had been hugely successful, but they suffered many casualties, morale and trust amongst troops and German citizens in their government was failing, so you can see, on the western front - the UK/France was indeed winning.
