i know it takes long if you have never had a passport before but I have had my own one before as a child, well it ran out last June so I would have been 18. I think I just have to renew it, like i can take it to a passport office and they will renew it for me like on the day or whatever?? Cheers guys :) X

Doesn't take that long in the post either though, they say it can take weeks but my manager at work got his pretty quick just going down the normal route.

i just read
"Who needs to be interviewed?
Any questions, just call
For passport interview appointments and queries call the Passport Adviceline on 0300 222 0000 (the line is open seven days a week from 7.00 am to 11.00 pm)
Only adults who have never before had a British passport in their own name before need to attend an interview.
If you had your own passport as a child you will not need an interview, as your application is classed as a renewal. If you did not have a passport as a child (or were only ever included on a parent’s passport) you will need to attend an interview."
soo? i would post it but i dont want it to take longer though id rather get it quickly?

Depends on their workload doesn't it, might take 3 weeks, might take 3 days. Ring em up and find out.

Swear I know more about passports than IPS now I've had to deal with mine.
Basically, the horror stories off it taking months aren't true anymore, even standard service will be done within two weeks, I had like 8 weeks to go and was nervous having heard all this bullshit of the old IPS.. I paid for the check and send service (extra £8, recorded delivery, and not guaranteed, but you are meant to get it back within a week, they also obviously check all your shit is there and correct).
I also lost my old my passport, so I had to get this one countersigned, parents details, which is a complete arse ache, got mine back weeks ago now, was back like a week after I sent it.
Next Wednesday - Well a week from today, if you have your old one you have two choices - one week service (still cutting it fine) which is around £120, or one day express service (not possible if you've lost your old one though :(). For both of these you have to go to a regional post office.
Glad I'm not in your position, gonna be a stressful week... I'd probably just relax like - "If it comes it comes, if not - worst case scenario - loose flight (and money) and rebook", and no one to blame but yourself.
Good luck.

"Who needs to be interviewed?
You only need to be interviewed if it's your first passport and you're an adult, or they doubt your identity (say if you lose your old one).
