......signing on the doll.

I been out of a job for about 2/3 weeks now and my gf is nagging me to sign on but I see it as pointless for the sale of 70 every 2 weeks, plus all the paperwork plus the amount of time it takes for the first payment to come thru I'm hoping to have a job by then.

just go find a job - be proactive about it.

2/3weeks is nothing to be out of a job tbh

im job hunting atm, mum needed some contribution to my horses so had to sign on,
hate going there, and it really didnt take that long at all, think its good for a back up tbh
they done sweet f*ck all in helping my find work, and the people are useless,
gone as far as looking at cleaning and now care work
it pisses me right off how you now need qualifications to hoover an office ARGH

Not sure you've been out of work long enough to sign?

Krys_23
30th June 2010, 12:36
It's definetely not worth the hassle, The amount of interviews and shit they arrange in the jobcentre itself when they sit you down and talk you over the same shit they told you two days ago, And the people who work there are more illiterate than the customer.

I thought about doing this. Have just graduated and whilst I'm waiting to hear back on the applications I've made to certain graduate jobs, I still am in vital need of cash after paying off some last bills.

Not too sure on the procedure though or the requirements. I wouldn't mind a bit of hassle for around £70 a week. Be enough to get by on at home whilst my applications go through.

It's £50 a week mate... Unless you get more for some reason?

It's not much hassle; I was on it for about 6 months. They are fucking useless (although it should be down to you.. if you’re not looking, you’re not gonna find anything :D, but most of the time they will say “We’re really busy today, so we won’t do a jobsearch.. which obviously you could do at home anyway :D.. Although that is kind of their job, but whatever), not gonna lie, I had no interviews, literally, turned up once every two weeks, sat down, wait for 10 mins, they call you over (cringe at them shouting your name out and die of shame), then they go;

"Circumstances the same?" - "Yep",
"Found anything?" - "Nope"
*They check book*, "okay sign here, date... Okay thanks, bye".

Working with horses is not just sitting on them :P

but really, half 7 till 6, 5 days a week is part time to me!

try starting at 6, then finishing at 6, 6 days a week. and having night checks half 8 till half 9... 3 nights a week. and still having a pub job too.

and not to mention the getting up at 5am to get horses ready, travelling to shows, and not getting back to yard tilll 6 /7 / 8, and STILL having horses to ride etc. blimmin hard work!

but...you gotta do the Shit to be the Shit ;)

I'm on it as i'm not working right now.. I'm so far away from the place though (nearest is 45 mile away) so i don't even have to go there, i just sign a bit of paper every fortnight and post it off, then the purps get paid into my account

Thansk for that, sounds better that way. I dont want people looking at me saying oh your on the doll and scrubbing off the Goc cos I aint, I actually want a job.

Good news today tho. I went round alll the main stream dealerships today asking if any of them would accept me to be a trainee car sales man. All were full but renault said they have someone retiring soon and they like to take on traniees so could be a catch AND someone has offered me a trail in a gold club bar which will be work in the mean time.

I also missed out Nissain and Vauxhall by accident so gonna drop a CV off to them tomorrow.

Fuck me. If it's that easy, then where the hell do I sign?

Apologies, was a typo there, meant to say what Fulch did about £70 every two weeks, but £50 a week you say? That's still good whilst I apply for jobs.

Money is so vital atm, so any help I get whilst getting a proper job is good to me.

That's worth it to me. Do you have to wait a certain period after leaving Uni? Or can I just go in and say I want to sign on?

finding a job in mk is hard, signing on in mk is so long all the waiting you have to do and waiting for the money, i signed on on the 22nd and while im waiting for the money ive signed on to an agency who found me a job at house of fraser warehouse in northfield (mk people might know where that is) and i went to an induction day and passed their test so now im just waiting for a call from them.

If you think you will get a job shortly, don't bother getting it. So much hassle for so little.
