i have an 18mm mdf boot floor...

now im thinking about taking the rear seats out, and continuing it up to the back of the drivers seat.

imo it woud look tidy! aslong as its carpeted or what ever i decide to do with it!

trying to think of the easiest way of doing it.
draw and cut around the shape of the rear bench? ...

if anyone else has done this, how'd you do it ?

thanks.

if i was you, id just cut the rough shape, then keep going back to the car and trimming it to fit, if that makes sence, templates never really work out perfect

Could get some card boxes and unfold them and make a massive template or make one out of 2mm ply first for a template

what i would do is get some 3 or 4 mm steel bend it at the end for 2 inches so you can then attatch it to the floor then get the right height then bend it again so its level with the boot floor then get a piece of mdf the size you need to cover drill holes through the steel get some small screws then screw it to the frame then cover it

cardboard templates are the best idea, thats how we do them in work

i just did trial and error. measured the narrowed bit and the widest bit then went from there. turned out really good, imo.....

Looks good jayyoung, what have you got holding it up? Just blocks of wood?

i got plywodd false floor, but just where the rear bench was, to cover the hole. But to hold it in place I fashioned brackets that i put where the seatbelts used to be then a strap up through the plywood + wheel then back down. Its only like 5mm ply....was all safe though definately wouldn't move!!!

nice job jayyoung! what are you planning to do with the rear seatbelts and plastic interior in the back? no point in it being there imo, just wondering if you was planning to cover that aswel. the floor looks ace though.

I will do, but I'm trying to get the balls to complete my plan!... Complete strip! Spray the inner shell lime green, pink cage, clocks steering wheel and buckets...

Then I have a vtr engine to throw in, but I'm in minds to work on it, I.e port polish, cams, forged pistons etc or go 16v... But I cab with the mounting issues tbh.
