hi guys ive just looked at a westcoast with a VTS conversion, its got 2 months tax but no mot, now what i was wondering is because its still down on the books as a 1.4 will it fail the mot having a VTS lump in it? the car is in good condition and the guy is only selling it as he has a new car. please help me im thinking of a possible buy here if it will go through the mot! :) Cheers Lee

It will still go thru a mot mate. Dont matter what engine uve got under the bonnet. They just go on emissions, so aslong has uve got the cat on etc it will go thru mot no probs :y:

id get the guy to put 12 months test on it

wont the emissions be higher though as its a 1.6 16v instead of being a 1.4? dont they have like a tolerance for a 1.4 and a different tolerance for a 1.6?

if i get the guy to put a mot on it he wants £1100 where as if he sells it with no mot he only wants £600 Cheers Lee

No it dont make any difference mate. My corsa i had was a 1.6 sport on logbook and it had 2ltr redtop engine in and it passed mate :P

lol thats alright then, i just wasnt too sure as i dont want to waste the money trying to mot it for them to say we cant mot it because of the different engine lol

they never look at the log book when i take things for mot anyway, what are u insuring it as though? a vts or the original car

so if you buy it for £600 then when you come to m o t it it might cost you more but might not thats the gamble only you can make
