Hello everyone, bit bored tonight so thought I'd show people my car... smileys/smiley2.gif
Note: I'm now updating this post as well as showing the same progress pics throughout the thread
This is how is started back in august 2005: smileys/smiley14.gif
/members/adsayer/19Z6Z_IMGP1717.jpg

First 'sensible' mod: smileys/smiley8.gif
/members/adsayer/ADBAD_IMGP0331.jpg

First 'sensible' mod removed soon after. coded the door handles and meshed the upper grille (and fluffy dice - *thanks girlfriend for her effort*):
/members/adsayer/9C4DZ_IMGP0355.jpg

Left it for a few months as i was poor and too cold to spray anything. Then I stuck in some LED's in the footwells and neons under the seats smileys/smiley16.gif (note these only activate when the doors open):
/members/adsayer/EECCD_IMGP1307.jpg

Colour coded the door mirrors back in January:
/members/adsayer/15ZDD_IMGP1426.jpg

Skool boy error, used acrylic primer instead of plastic primer, so noticed this had happened last week smileys/smiley8.gif :
/members/adsayer/67F93_IMGP1692.jpg

106 mirrors became available so I bought and fitted smileys/smiley14.gif :
/members/adsayer/67742_IMGP1705.jpg

And then 2 hours later put VTR alloys on smileys/smiley16.gif :
/members/adsayer/479Z9_IMGP1755.jpg

Then cleaned the mucky bugger smileys/smiley10.gif :
/members/adsayer/ZZCCB_IMGP1757.jpg

Well you have been a busy boy since you got the mirrors! They suit yours better than mine for some reason smileys/smiley13.gif I can't say im keen on the rear lights either though. Whats all that rubbish under your rear number plate too?

AM4R

Funny you should say that because Craig and Ad noticed it too. It's stuck down with blue peter's old favorite Double Sided sticky tape so I'll have a bash at sorting it after I've had some munch smileys/smiley4.gif

Door pins defo need doing but I keep putting it off - i know i'll get a punishing if i dont do it soon like smileys/smiley13.gif

I going to stick with the lights for a little while and see if they grow on me smileys/smiley14.gif

yo party people.

here's what ive been doing tonight...

New Headunit installed - Kenwood KMD-673R
Thanks to Dave86, nice one mate smileys/smiley20.gif
I cant believe how much better the sound is just with a new headunit smileys/fcuk.gif
/members/adsayer/Z48D4_IMGP1873.jpg
My parents computer screen is pretty dark so i cant see it properly but if it's too dark on yours let me know and i'll brighten it

Then I was getting pretty annoyed ripping chunks of my hands off everytime I want to open the bonnet (because of the mesh). So I put a little cover over it. while I was at it i resprayed the mesh too - although i ran out of lacquer smileys/smiley5.gif so I'll do the rest tomorrow if i can assed
/members/adsayer/6DBAF_IMGP1874.jpg
By the way, I have loads of this stuff left... if you'd like some let me know (50p)

And for a laugh I thought I'd tackle the engine bay. I've dont even know how to clean an engine bay so any advice on products and cleaning methods etc would be wwwwicked smileys/smiley4.gif
Also here's a sneaky peak of what a 1.5D engine looks like smileys/smiley8.gif
/members/adsayer/D928Z_IMGP1875.jpg

As I keep saying please let me know if I've bastardised my car along the way so I can correct it sharpish smileys/smiley16.gif

cheers everyone

There was a spotted thread a few weeks ago that descibed my car but it turns out wasnt so to keep my beat unique I had a little change of plan and went and got some VTS alloys...
the condition of these wheels are perfect barring some very slight marks on the front two, i love them.
Here they are:

Must of been cus you havent been hoe'ing the forums lol.

At least your here for Xmas, what other plans you got then?!

It was a killer at uni... final(ish) year is shite. I asked the management to ban me whilst i was concentrating on the last few pieces of coursework and doing the mid-year exams... hence the lack of spammage from me. Modding when a student is f***ing impossible to be honest which is sad :upset:

My plan over christmas is:
stick this panel filter in, I was going to do it today but realised I've got to oil the bugger before hand.

spam saxp a lot.

Spray and fit dimma grille

spray and fit bodykit.

probably clean it a little bit.

just a quick update. I think i over oiled the filter before i stuck it in as it sucked (natural comedien :)). to be honest i thought performance reduced slightly.

Anyway I've done about 600 miles on the new filter now and just giving it a little blip down the country roads and it defo feels slightly more responsive and a little extra shove before 2000rpm - quite impressed actually :)

I did a 0-60 (speedo) test before i left for uni - on standard filter 15.2 secs
was going to do a run tonight but too foggy to bother trying, also not exactly a fair test with the high pressures and highish humidity too, and foglights +20hp.

also i cant be assed to start the spraying of the kit yet... hopefully next week i'll get something started :)

loving it sayer, v nice :)

Barry123
27th December 2006, 16:55
right...

I gave the saxo a 0-60 (speedo) run last night.

came back with 14.2 secs - which seemed a little too good, so i did it again 14.4secs

either way its an improvement which i reckon is around 5-7%.

not bad for a £35 filter.

Also the weather isnt looking good so I'm probably going to leave the kit until easter now :upsety: shame, but i'd rather do it properly.

I want to get a set of alloys but been warned off by a few people casue of the size of the 1.5D arches for the tyres!

hi dude.

I'm rolling on 15's with a 195mm tread width and a 45% profile. My car isnt currently lowered but there is no rubbing whatsoever. Prior to that I had VTR alloys on mine with a 185mm tread width... again fine. I even went to the trouble of bunging my family in the car and taking it over speed bumps. still no rubbing :) but there is a difference between the 3-door and 5-door version. It appears the 5-door version has a wider rear arch... hence no modification needed to make the alloys fit.

Even when I move out of birmingham I had the car literally packed to the max...

MAJOR UPDATE:

Washed it

no seriously, there actually is some proper progress rather than applying a sponge to it exterior then feeling the need to fill up a progress thread with 10 pages of shitty pictures.

the beast now has a a dimma grille and some component speakers.

neither of which I can be arsed to take a photo of, im sure you've all seen a dimma grille and some component speakers before.

A dimma you say? Have never seen one on a silver 5dr and i have a very poor imagination. Ditto that with component speakers (can you even hear them over that derv patter? ;)).

Actually, i would like to see how you'v mounted the tweetys...

My next creative effort will be in fabricating a pillar gauge pod & tweeter mounts.
