no box exhaust

Hi there. my next door neighbour has a astra sxi. he runs it with a 4-1 manifold and no boxes, not even a backbox with just a exhaust tip arrached to the end. However when i took my exhaust off my car and started it up with just the manifold it sounded really wet and horrible sound. how come his sounds ok but mine doesnt?

because hes got a straight through pipe to the back of the car which probably muffles the sound a bit. If you have just your manifold it would sound shit and over loud. im sure if you put a straight through pipe on it would sound a bit better. Also maybe ur neighbour has had his 'toned down' i have heard this is possible as my m8 had it done on his v6 golf. probaly best to reserch it on google. try typing toning down an exhaust or something similar.

isnt that just a mid silencer?
