You should do it with 1 of each to be honest mate easily. :)

as above 1 of each should be more than enough for 3 layers of primer, paint and lacquer

i saw a VTR the other day, was in matt black, looked like the owner had done it themself. I thought it looked shockingly bad. (sorry if thats someones car on here)

i would think more like 2 cans of colour. always best to have to many. and you cant put on to many layers of colour.

Possibly someones on here as it seems to be the new cool thing, everyone seems to be doing it.

I got mine done, and yeah did it myself and used a roller lol, tbh imo looks the shizz.
But ive seen it done, and it looks shite!

About what? Lol... Every week there seems to be a new thread on matte painting a car, and atleast once a week i get a pm about how to do it.

And yes, i like mine, i used blackboard paint, so its great fun to park up leave chalk on it and see what happens...

But imo its getting too common so im looking for a change.

fair enough , if i saw it i might like it, but what i saw the other day was terrible . uneven coats and just looked like a waste of a VTR

The guy obviously had no skill what so ever, if done nicely like tonto_VTR's then it looks the shit tbh.
