so i was cruising along... and it popped out of gear and wouldn't go back in gear
coasted to a stop and looked under the car... it was shitting all it's geabox oil over the road.
wank.
opend the bonnet and the engine was extremely wonky...
eventually the rac came... and asked had it ever had a clutch fitted etc.
the previous owner mentioned somehting to me about the clutch being done...it must have been a bodge job.
so from what i can gather... the three bolts from the gearbox that hold it to the plate that is fitted to the gearbox mount under battery were the problem.
they had been replaced with studs in 2 holes.... and one other didn't have anything in. one had lossened itself off completly and the other then sheared off under the stress.
because the gearbox/engine dropped that side the driveshaft popped out to cause the leak...
the rac man jacked the engine up and put two bolts in the free holes... but there is a sheared off bolt in the other.
he also said that the drive shaft has pushed itself back in now the geabox is back at the right height.
does anyone know what size the three bolts should be? and how i can check the driveshaft is in okay before i fill it with new oil?
do i need to check the other engine mounts as they will have been put under extra stress?
cheers ryan
