My insurance company wont allow me to lower me saxo.
Its my loss if i dont declare so dont come on here shouting all the odds about getting it declared.
The question is, is it against the law to not declare mods?
Secondly, and technically, (if i dont crash) and if i lower it when not allowed, my insurance is still fine untill i claim and they see its lowered, or am i wrong here?

Police can pull you over and check you have declared your mods. They have done with me.

And yes driving without valid insurance is against the law lol.

By the way, this is an open forum with members who are police and car insurance brokers.

Also if you do crash your insurance will be void, and thats what makes our insurance soo steep!, so your affecting everyone elses insurance premium too

If i crash its not gonna make a difference, it will still affect others premiums with mods decalred or if there not.

wowow relax everyone.

I have discussed this with a few policemen and they have told me that they have no need and will never check your mods on the insurance as long as you have insurance I have been pulled over many times and never have they said "have you insured theses mods".

also the people that do declare mods never declare all of them anyway so if they did crash it will be the same as not declaring them so they are paying A LOT extra money for cover they are not going to get.

most saxo will be written off my the insurance especially if they are "modded" due to the insurance not wanting to repair/replace modded items.

read what you want into this it is only my experience and opinion

another point.

they will not pay say if you have turboed and not declared it and go into the back of someone at a million mph then they can say it is caused by th increased profermance. but if you moved over into someones lane at the traffic lights and sraped someones car then they can hardly say this was the result of the turbo.

I used to work as an insurance broker.

Some insurance companies wont cover your mod if you have not declared it. But when it comes to performance modifications you are asking for trouble not declaring it.

Why do you think it it is more expensive to insure a vts over furio for instance! You start increasing the performance you are more likely to be a greater risk therefor should have a higher premium to cover the greater risk, and if you aint paying it, they aint paying out for you!

Cosmetic mods need to be declared as your car could potentially become more likely to be stolen, so not declaring cosmetic mods would affect your claim for theft.
