VTR needs a plate welded in...... worrying atm

Ye some may know I just bought one and so on.

Under the ecu tray there is some rusty metal which I stabbed with a screwdriver and it went through, mechanic on my road says I need a plate welded in.

Is this a common thing on saxos? I worry about scratches so as you can guess I'm running everywhere pulling my hair out.

Also you know where the wheel arch liner is? You know that oval shaped hole which it doesn't cover next to the shock? Tiny rust hole next to it worry? or not?

ECU rust is common as much, as he said all you need to do is weld a little bit of metal in to fill the hole :)

wouldnt worry about that hole as long as its not near suspension mounting/components etc

It's not the ecu tray it's that plate underneath, where all the water splashes up from the road.

Happens to alot of saxos / 106's.......water and crap gets behind the arch liners and causes the problem.

Think so ye, like if you just take the ecu tray off its the metal underneath the rust isn't that bad dad reckons 50 quid jobbbie.

kewl well mechanic says it wont pass teh mot with either of the holes.

Needs to be done anyway, is it usual for the rear trailing arms (think thats what they are called) and all the shit at the rear to rust?

Floor pan is fine just a fair bit of rust on components, when I get the wheel key I will get stuff shot blasted anyways.

mate they are made from shit old material, give them a few years of british salt roads they'll rot everywhere. complete bull about not passing the mot, mine has a bit of surface rust and didnt get questioned. how can it fail on the ecu hole if they dont even look under the bonnet?

It's the hole in the panel by the shock which won't pass apparently.

If you have a hole in the chassis it won't pass an MOT but if under the ECU tray they won't spot it, just get it welded, will be less than a £100.
