Maybe they are finally going to admit that there is a fault with the hardware as per the hundreds of independant consumer tests. Interesting to see what they are going to say/do there are already reports of iphone 4's being swapped out.

Though some people i know have no problems with the "left hand" reception spot and others can demo it for me in front of my eyes as they bridge the gap between the cell antenna and wifi antenna with a finger.

:S

What a lot of bullshit. So they have now acknowledged there is a flaw with the design so much so they are going to give you a free case with your phone to "cover" a blatant design flaw. Superb! Now i dont whether to stick with my 3gs and change next year or move to iphone 4 now :S

Will the white iphone 4 have the same fault Scott or will Apple resolve it before that gets launched??

i have the iphone 4
when i text i hold the phone with my left hand and type with my right
you can watch the signal go from full to 1 bar

apart from that i love the phone but i havent had an ipod/iphone in the past to compare it with other models

You can notice the bars drop if you hold it in the described way, BUT it so far has had no effect on the experience of the phone for me! 3g has stayed consistantly fast and I havent had any phonecalls cut off or had any problems making calls.

I love my Iphone 4!

Before I rant Please note I do not and have not owned a Smartphone
But I AM looking into buying an iphone 4

The thing people dont realise is that although the signal is going down, your 3G and signal strength will still be functioning.
The so called "Grip of Death" does indeed cause the signal to drop & Apple have kindly posted videos of Other smartphones losing signal when held in a similar way.
Even when gripped in this way, your wi-fi will still work, you can still browse the web and you will still receive call. This only becomes a major issue if your left handed.

The above picture is the Death grip, do this to your mobile phone now... Im not asking you to see the signal drop, but would you Answer the phone this way?
Would you hold and operate the phone this way?
NO because your thumb gets in the way :D

Last but not least
"Most" people who buy an iphone want to protect the new toy. By using any casing that shields the sides of the phone, you eliminate this problem 100% !
"Why should I have to buy a case, it should work already"
Good question, the iphone isn't as tolerable as other smartphones when it comes to the deathgrib. But at the end of the day, you know where not to hold the phone. Its not Even comfortable to use your phone while in the "deathgrip"
Protect your iphone and get a case.

Here are the above mention links to the videos about smartphone deathgrips

p.s Love you firefox for saving my text after my Laptop shutdown :D

You hold your phone in one hand and use the other to text? or you use your thumb?

Because using your thumb would remove the bridge at the bottom of the phone and you "should" not have the problem

Most iphone users should have a case on it anyway.

Just watched the keynote press conference on it and it was quite interesting when they were demoing the other models and how they also drop signal strength when held a certain way.

I always think with Apple products because they only really make a few different product people pick up on any faults more so then other companies.

Ive never seen a case that i like for the phone, i just have a screen protector skin on it & thats it.

How the hell the phone got through any amount of testing if the signal drops out so frequently i'll never know.

Ill be upgrading in september time so they may well have sorted what ever this issue is by then but even as it stands if i was to upgrade now i'd probably still have one tbh...

Ignoring all the other bullshit that apple spins about the phone, its the most straightforward, simple (& gorgeous) phone ive ever used.
