I've just looked at a rear axle today for my mk2 vtr. Is there anything I should ask they guy thats selling it-ie brake pipes cut or not etc? He's taking it off tomorrow,as its pissin down today.Dont want the mechanic to start fittin the other one only to find out somethings cut/broke missing that shouldnt be!mechanic said to make sure the pipes are cut with a really long bit left.what else?

Obvious things such as milage, has it been altered for ride height, are brake discs included and most importantly does it come with a gaurantee?
Gaurantee is the clincher really- yo udont want to fit it to find it's deaded.

mileage has no bearing to a certain extent on how worn they are, its pot luck.
you can use any beam on the vtr as long as its an ARB equipped one, as you can just fit all your bits on if they're not the same.
I would personally stick new bearings in them regardless.
