Hi guys,

I'm looking to upgrade my current 1.1i to something like a 1.4 furio (I wanted a VTR but after the quotes I've been given, I've decided to change my mind?

Am I really looking at about £1800 for a 1.4?

I have had my license for 1 year, and 1 year named driver no claims. I'm 20, nearly 21.

Just like to see what you guys think.

I've tried all the usuals - Comparethemarket - Money Supermarket - Confused - Bell

Cheers

That's about right mate.. insurance quotes are a joke and you haven't had your license for that long..

I pay around £2500 for a Mk2 VTR, I'm 17 and had my license for 6 months.

Ouch! I don't really fancy paying that much for insurance, the monthly premium for it would be pretty high.

Might have to have a ring around, see if I can get them down any :)

Have you tried doing the pass plus scheme. Some insurance companys see it as you are trying to be a responcible driver and give you a discount. Put on your quote that you already done it and see if you save the cost of the course on your insurance.

Cheers Mike,

Elephant and Admiral seem to be the best, they are both around the £1600 mark.

I could probably afford it but I'd end up quite poor at the end of it unless I pass the lifeguard course at work :D

Think I could knock them down more if I phoned them?

Be worth a shot, put one of your parents as a Named driver on the policy, nothing wrong with doing it as its perfectly legal and it should bring it down.

£1800 is definitely pretty high on a Furio at your age.

As said above, add named drivers. Adding my Dad brings it down £100, then adding my gf's Mum brings it down another £140, for me.

I'm about to renew mine with Elephant, for £1200 (down from 1440 without named drivers) on a VTR.
20, < 1yr exp., 0 NCB. 4k miles, social only, tpft.

Cheers for the replies guys. I was thinking about doing the named driver thing as that's what I'm currently doing on my 1.1 (£400 <3) but the main issue is me not earning NCB.

Direct line allow named drivers to earn NCBs though so I might give them a shot if not it's going to have to be a named driver jobbie :)

Direct Line seems to be the cheapest with my dad on the policy. It comes to about £1400 fully comp (third party fire and theft is more expensive :O)

I'll have to see how my funds are going when my insurance is up :y:

iirc direct line do not allow any mods untill you are over 25 (just incase you were planning to mod in the future)

I think I might have to stick with my little 1.1 for another year :D
