Just found your thread. The one in your first post looks just like mine lol. If its running costs you want then definatly get one! I travelled from Stoke back to Nottingham today and the needle didnt move at all on the motorway at 60-70mph. Tax is £110 a year too! Wanted a 5 door but couldnt find any with decent miles etc though.

Its slightly cheaper than my VTR to insure, so if you can insure a VTR then you can this :y: Diesels tend to be cheaper to insure so ive found anyway :)

I really like these, I think the 3 doors are a refreshing change because 95% I see are 5 doors.
Check all your brake lights though. I don't ever remember seeing one with all 3 still working!

Was it your only car? Or just a daily drive tank?

Keep your 306. Out of 100 cars tested for reliabilty, the 307 came in the bottom 5 every year it was in production.

Well this gives me hope! Found alot of high milage 307 HDIs up to 180k so sounds like they last a while. This ones only had a few bushes changed in its lifetime. Is it all 307's or certain models which get problems?

Was a daily drive.
Ive driven alot of cars in my time and the 307 has to be the worst !
Random faults would show on the display, it ate brake light bulbs for fun

Hi Mate,
Yes I did have a 307 but had an Octavia vRS since early March now.
The 307 was a good car in the 2 and abit years I had it to be honest, it flew through 2 MOTs with no advisories but before I just got rid - it all started to go wrong but not sure if this was a result of the accident I had in December.
Firstly - on the MOT the spring was broken but luckily hadn't gone into the tyre and then a few weeks later - the rear spring collapsed during the night and I went out the following morning - to find the spring underneath the car and it was sat on the bumpstops! Not an ideal situation and considering I have a 3yr old girl, imagine if I was driving the consequences that would have caused.
Electric issues are a bugger yes, but these are on the Siemens systems which ran upto 2004 on a '54 plate so anything after that, like mine was a Bosch System which was pretty reliable. I have done a list of stuff below of things to look out for...
- Clutch Judder. This could be a sign of the flywheel going.
- Gear Linkages. Can be sloppy, so make sure okay.
- Cambelt. Around 100,000 miles these need to be done.
- Anti Pollution. Common issues with these, so make sure it's had the fluid change and filter is clean - with no warning lights.
Fluid for the filter is 33 quid per litre and you need 3!
I can't think of anything else, but I'd recommend the 1.6HDI model if you can afford it. Good solid engines, more economical, respond well to remaps (mine went from 110bhp - 137bhp) with 238lbs/ft of torque. The tax is 90 quid on these models too. My old one is for sale if you want it? lol
Few pictures of mine for you...

In short it was a good car, but various little niggles for me including the springs started to put me off and I opted for a change.
I got mine on 21k and I sold it on 54k. It didn't ONCE let me down and I went to as far as Inverness and as far as Brighton too.
MPG wise - I had a week off work last September. I left Scotland on the Monday and filled up the car. I drove back from there to home, then I went to Scarbourgh, then to Brighton within ONE week and I did 703 miles on ONE tank! Amazing range.
Hope this is helpful.
If you need anything just drop me a PM.
Luke
