Hey all as some of you may know the clutch has gone on my saxo and there's other little bits that need sorting out so I've bought a new run around so i can take my saxo off the road for a while, anyway i found this little beauty on eBay up for £600 as the dealer wanted rid of it and its a little tatty so it was already pretty cheap at £600! but i rang him and got him down to £400!!!

specs:

-2001 1.1 106 independence
-69k miles

Mods

-jvc cd player
-gti spoiler (might be standard??)
-de-badged boot

Here are the pics:

Heres a few pics of the bodywork problems
http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo16/jeffchiz/CIMG0023-3.jpg
scab of rust where the last owner must have scrapped a bit of paint off when de-badging
http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo16/jeffchiz/CIMG0024-3.jpg
little crease in the 3/4 panel
http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo16/jeffchiz/CIMG0025-4.jpg
the worst is the offside front wing which is very badly rusted for some un-known reason

since the pics have been taken I've given it a good clean, hoovered and clipped the carpet back in place where it was coming loose

Plans:

there isn't really going to be any plans as such apart from replacing the front wing, once my saxo is fixed ill have a dilemma of selling the saxo and turning this in to a new project or just getting rid of this, so this could turn in to a larger progress thread in a couple months...

Looks good mate.....i bet that front wing is an aftermarket replacement.....thats why it has corroded so badly.

Looks very nice, only thing I would want changing is the 3 stud to 4 stud. Gti spoiler is a nice addition as well, wish I had one on mine!

As J222JRA said, its probably a non-genuine replacement wing, thats why its in bad condition.

Just get some dash insert blanks in the two holes by the cig lighter and its looking good.

looks nice mate and apart from the wing not bad for £400 if you get rid you sould be able to get your cash back if not abit more.

oh rite ok that could explain it, i will be just replacing it with a standard peugeot one but as its a run around its not overly bothering me atm

if i turn this in to a new project then ill definitely be changing it to 4 stud, it has got one dash insert blank in the glove box i just need to get another one, it looks as if they go in from behind the center console, is that right??

yea i am happy with the gti spoiler it was one of the things i wanted to do to it but when i turned up at the dealer i noticed it had one which was a nice surprise!

cheers mate, yea ill definitely be advertising it for a good few hundred quid more than £400!! lol hopefully i should make a good bit of profit off it when I've replaced the wing

Pretty sure it is. I wanted a moonstone 106 for my first car, couldn't find one cheap enough though :homme:

I honestly can't remember. I think they can go in from the front but i'm unsure.

If not just pull the sliding heater/air direction vents off, and pop the blower speed knob off as well to reveal a torx screw. Undo this torx screw and it should hinge up by the radio enough to get the blanks in from behind.

UPDATE

dont get too excited.. lol ive just fitted the sub/amp/alpine HU out of my saxo in to the 106, i cba to be driving about without some decent bass when ive got a perfectly good system sitting in the saxo not doing anything lol only problem is that it shows how shit the original 106 front speakers are so i might have to get some cheap JBL coaxials just so i dont have farting speakers for a couple months ha

ive got the bloody modding bug again now :( im tempted to get some 3 stud compomotive mo's and slam it on its arse, my mate also has a 106 pooflow (powerflow) exhaust lying around not doing anything so i might just fit it for shits and giggles lol

i apologise for the shit pics, i cba to find my digi camera lol

i still cant get over the fact it was only £400 ive already had two serious offers from people at work to buy it one guy said ill give you £500 right now ill take you down to the bank lol would have been the quickest £100 i would have made but im gonna keep it and try and sell it for as much as i can, its about time i had some good luck, i've lost money on every car ive had lol

lol the seats are pretty cool only thing annoys me on the drives seat a spring some times sticks out and stabs me in the back hurts so much lol
i was gonna de-wiper it today while i was doing the sub/amp but i keep gotta reminding myself its a run around and not a project lol

i did indeed say i want a sleeper but i want a saxo really :P lol but again i keep getting a thought of fitting a 1.3 rallye engine in to it and insurance probably wouldn't go up by much as im only going from a 1.1 to a 1.3, the insurance company may not no the rallye engine has 100 bhp lol im wondering if they would ask the power of the engine when you register another engine, or do they just ask for the size?

stokesy
5th August 2010, 21:50
sounds a nice plan mate, why not the s2 rallye, 1.6 instead, like 103 odd bhp isnt it??
and havnt got a clue when it comes to changing engine.. and i assume when u tel the dvla it will register on insurers companies when u give em the reg number and show as 1.3 rallye engine, like when u normaly ask fror quotes, they no engine size bhp (as standard) etc

nah the 1.6 rallye is only 90bhp just checked it on parkers, also if the engine is made before 1992 it doesnt need a cat for mots :D but ic ant remember when the rallye engine was produced lol i think it was only for a year or two so i might be lucky to get a 1992 one lol also the s2 rallye doesnt have the lovely inlet manifold lol

do it a silver set of comp mos would look nice.....slammed!

im pretty sure its the car not the engine age that they do the emissions on... so you would need a cat.... and when you register an engine conversion! they only ask what the engine size and engine number is same as insurance doesnt matter about the horsepower (for a standard engine modified is different i think!)

and far as i remember you just push them in....should be able to tell by looking at it!

they cant push in must go in from behind bit hard to explain lol

and thats good news about the engine conversion because a rallye engine with a ph2 cam should see about 120 bhp with a remap so should be a good bit cheaper than a 16v conversion :P
