Some of them look really nice, I think it's the CI's that I'm fond of, and obviously the M3's, but other than that I'm not a huge fan of the looks of a BMW past the E30 (no bias, honest ;) ). I bet they are nice to drive though

I've been looking at these but I'm in two minds, I know there was a forum member who bought a real nice beemer and said he regretted it as it was so boring to drive?
I've never driven one but want a test drive so bad.

E46's to me look to big and round dont like them at all.. Not even "that" keen on the e46 m3.. Think the e30/e36 and now the e90 loon have such better lines. The e92 coupes a bit rubbish too..
If you relly want one dont get anything under the 330 petrol/deisel. The 3.0 is such a better engine than the others. Comparing the e46 328 to 330 is like comparing a e36 328 to a 318! theres that much difference.
Mucho upgrade from that spanish peice your driving..

im only 19 mate and going from a 1.4 to a 3.0 would kill me on insurance!

A 19 year old driving one of these would either say one of two things to me. Drug dealer or Rich parents. Now i know you dont fall under any of these categories, but for the money i think you could do alot better! Just my two p's worth

I bought my first bmw at 18 Tom_crx?
At 19 a 330 might be a bit much, i know i must sound like a stuck record but have you considered a e36? you can get a mint 328 sport for 5k which would not only be a more "involved" drive but with a few tweeks would blow a 330 away and insurable at 19.

I have got a e46 325i msport and i love it, its quick feels great to drive and i love the look of it. the only things that have gone wrong on my bm is the coil packs but they are only £25 each when they go and i had to get a new front break calipper and antiroll bar bush things but got all from euro car parts and was cheap as chips. If its what you want then go for it. I have always loved the e46 and i would have another maybe next a little M3.........

Get a 325 then buy an alpina inlet manifold off me :) will be 330 quick then ;) just watch out for rear springs as have a tendency to break and also control arm bushes used to split if they hadn't been changed for modified BMW ones. The engine breather pipes can collapse on themselves but that's bout it. Not much else really goes wrong with them pretty bullet proof engines. If you want it get it mate. Or a 320D are nice just be careful of the swirl flaps in inlet manifold as they snap and smash the engine up. Quite a few 320D E46 engines have been wrote off at work :n:

I used to own a 330ci before the leon and it was probably the best car i have owned and i have had a few.
The only downside for me was the fuel economy but tbh you don't buy a 330 expecting amazing mpg.
I never had one single problem with the car during the 18 months i owned it and insurance was no more than my leon 1.8t although it does make my leon look economical.
