Hi,

My Vtr recently doesnt idle very well, it will rev up to a random rev count and stay there for a bit. Also when not accelerating hard it tends to chug in all gears. And also startnig can sometimes be a problem, it just wont start for while and when it does, there is way too much petrol as it stinks of it and smoke/ takes a while to rev normally.

Any ideas/help would be much appreciated!!

Thanks

Clean icv, New spark plugs, Ht leads depending on saxo and coil plug

Do it in that order to save monies!

Carb Cleaner is the most common thing to use I believe.

cleaning throttle and icv sorted this problem with mine, it was revving and chugging along the road and cutting out at lights. if that don;t work also told it could be lamba sensor in downpipe. but try easy stuff first

I had a similar issue on my furio a few years back.

I removed removed the airbox piping, removed the throttle cable, took off the ICV and unscrewed the throttle body. I then used carb cleaner as mentioned above to clean all the components and sprayed some directly into the air intake, only a little bit mind.

I then started the car, gave it a little rev and it sorted the issue out for me.

If this doesnt work, try replacing the ICV if its sticking (£10 on ebay)

Moggy ALL the sensor's on the block are easy to get to, Remove them one by one and clean them.. I cleaned my temp sensor the other day OMG 12 year's of crap. Cleaning all the sensor's make's the car drive ALOT better..
206 rolland garros BTW but still the same engine's.

See I thought the idle control valve would be the idle bit.. But I don't think this will fix the 'chugging' and smoking/overfueling.

I got exactly the same issue, after cleaning ICV tinkering with sensors and what not i decided enough was enough..
Took the sax to a guarage and had a full inspection done on her, turns out the ICV is abit worn but i guess for a 8 year old car its bound to be.
Ive ordered a new ICV which is about £64.58inc vat and fitted
Was going to just go ebay but if its new then hopefully i wont get a repeat of the issue.
