halfords lacquer is shit, best getting a lacquer mixed from a bodyshop suppliers, thin light coats aswell, the weather/temperature makes a massive difference aswell, can go dull/cludy if its cold

When i sprayed my side strips i used a ultra glossy lacquer and they have a decent shine mate. You will never get that same shine like a body shop does from just using cans but apply a few thin layers and you should be ok.. Dont use the halfords lacquer its rubbish i used that when i done my grill and barely any shine was seen.

sprey the laquar on 5 mins after the last coat of paint. Works much better than waiting.
That and the highest rating wet + dry you can find with soapy water works well.

so you didnt sand the old paint to key it??
the new paint will flake off in no time
try and get some ferecla g4 compound far better than t cut (its what body shops use)

the wetter you can put the laquer on the better , doin it in loads of dust coats is noo good , but i agree to get any good finish you need a proper laquer out of a paint gun not a can ,

as said above, rub down with 1500-2000 grit wet and dry, this will make it abit more matte then you want to use some G3 poish (i think thats wot ive got) or T-cut to bring it to a shine, then you sould polish it with some proper polish to finish it off. then wax.
