Any one know of a company that offers uprated discs for 3 stud hubs? or is the 4 stud conversion the way forward?

Excuse me what? Vented 3 stud discs don't exist. End of.
These are the ones you want, and half the price of the above link

You'll get some improvement with these, what exactly is making them 'bad'?
Can you lock your wheels with them?

Nothing in particular is bad about them. I was looking at a vts front end conversion(nicking the hubs and suspension set up) as i was finding it a ball ache to get 3 stud alloys. now i have found the alloys and was wondering if I could up grade the 3 stud brakes as with the vts front end i'd have the whole world of vts parts to choose from.

you will need vts/vtr struts as the calipers dont fit on 3 studs mate.

As above.
Even if the calipers did fit the discs don't exist off-the-shelf.
