Can't get to the Ring to often so I have set up my own practice simulator

Logictec G25 steering wheel with 6 speed gated manual & Clutch

40" high def TV

Gamracer Pro seat

Small video taken of a replay with my phone, the m3 spits flames, When using the manual box with clutch on the M3 it gets configured with a dog leg 1st gear.

now for gt legends TF edition, you start from TF car park, very detailed & very accurate track bumps n all, much more accurate than any other game, the hills are steeper & where new tarmac has been used the grip levels change. If you play online, the car park gets full of other cars all sorts BML CSL's 911's Zacksped capris etc you can just chase or race whoever turns up

But it's not realistic as you can sit at like 180mph most of the way

No it's not mate. It's on PC, PS3 and 360. I'd get GTR and Forza though tbh.. GTR Evoloution though of course.. Reason being it wears thin after a little bit imo. As does many simulations.

GTR Evolution is on the PC & So is GT Legends

Their is a big online racing community with tons of servers to go on, upto 36 cars per race. Thousands of tracks to download.

The online racing on GT5 Prologue is terrible compared to these pc games.

This is a good free community that have their own servers. Used to be a member here & I still have lap records for porsches that have yet to be beaten from years ago

You can get a wheel for a 360 mate, and pedals, and a seat... It's Microsoft, you can get just about any accessory you want.

Of course, they'll charge you extortionately :D. Or make you pay in 'points' so it doesn't seem like you're spending real money ><.

Jonathon, I always used to race those cars on GTR :).

Love seeing the old E30'S go round....And the alfa makes a biblical sound.. and is rapid. Like seriously rapid. Loved the Alfa so much.. They nailed the audio tbh... Well, pretty much everything.. It is a simulation :D. No traction control, no ABS, no stability control, manual gear changes (no clutch for me though.. cba with that).

Forza is the bollocks. Add me if you want mate (Boundd).. I'm into drifting mainly though.. Don't mind the odd bit of track, but most people will just ram you off unless you put it on ghost (which I much prefer).. I don't understand how people can claim ramming someone of a track is fair play :S... I even saw them do it on Forza 2 on some gaming championship that was on TV a year back.

Its all to do with the force feedback, I had lengthy conversations with logitec about it. They said the PS3 & PC work in the same way when it comes to driving games. XBOX totally different way, so they simply cannot port the same wheels over to xbox format without a total redesign.

So sony had a Tie up with logitec for a GT pro wheel for GT5

Same with gt5 their will be a new wheel , the gran turismo games use 900 degree rotation like a real car 2 whole turns lock to lock.

PC & PS3 you can also use 3 pedals with a real clutch to change gear.

xbox, just std left & right no clutch only semi auto. The force feedback is not right either

Microsoft were told this by the wheel manufacturers during developement. They ingnored them as they wanted to only sell their own branded products.

So you end up with crappy wheels, no manual boxes , no clutch, crappy force feedback etc

The only one with a clutch is fanatec

pretty good, but after actually being on the ring, i can safely say you'll never get a feel for how the car would actually perform on the ring. or, more importantly how the driver would react to cars either side over taking on corners going a lot faster than yourself

so true its impossible to get an accurate feel. ask any biker who has been on it they try it on a game then go on it for real and think wow the game never showed all these lil bumps.

the ring like nay other track changes from day o day dependant on humidity,track temps how many more cars go over in one day which hus may create new bumps etc etc etc a game will NEVER be as accurate as real life its impossible. hence the word simulation lol

you simply dont get judgement from a simulator of what the track is actually like, yes you get knowledge of corners comming up, but most corners are off camber, or your car is going over a hill, or what if your tyres lose grip, or theres oil on the track

but most importantly you can't predict what other drivers will do, hence its dangerous... Of course, you should know all about trying to overtake on corners right?

Just remember on the simulator , you can have 5 pints of magners & no one will get hurt.

A simulator is exactly what it says. It does allow you to have fun with your mates on a Friday night.

When I do holiday at the ring every year , I do enjoy myself lapping the ring. But I will say one thing, once you have driven the ring for real, you drive the simulator in a smoother way.

i enjoy bashing around on forza for a laugh thing that i was most amazed at after only being on the ring virtually was how steep the carausel is. i was like wtf i should be going round you at 200mph backwards.
