Just wondering if some people can give me a rough price on a garage charging to change a gearbox on a 51 plate vtr?

depends if you supply it or not. some garages charge ridiculous amounts for a reconditioned box

was planning on gettin a 2nd hand box off ebay or a breaker, just getting them to drop the old one out and put the new one in?

a mechanic i know took the gearbox on and off for £120
2 of my mates have payed £750 & £800 to have there clutch and gearboxes changed :fcuk:

Im assuming the garage supplied the parts and the gearbox was reconditioned?

I paid £200 for a good 2nd hand vts gearbox supplied and fitted inc new clutch.
Cheap as chips i thought.

These prices are very nice! I paid £75 to a mechanic friend but I had to constantly stay over and help as its impossible to fit a gearbox with 1 person with basic tools and a couple of jacks.
