I found a pipe :O

I found this pipe in my engine bay today. Its not connected and someones put a screw in the end to block it off i think. Can anyone tell me what it does and where it goes? Thanks. Tom

Looks like the pipe that connects to the ICV

it goes to the charcoal canister under the drivers wing.. hope this helps.

Thanks guys. Wheres it meant to connect to? it lookied like it went towards the inlet mani. There isnt a hole left where it was meant to connect is there?

Goes into the inlet manifold just behind the MAP sensor.

Does it need to be blocked off at the inlet mani or will it be ok how it is then?

usually attaches to a little pipe in the bottom of the inlet - need to make sure this is blocked off as well otherwise you'll be having idling issues

has ur car always had this engine in it or has it been converted? i converted a 1.1 to a 1.6 that had 3 pipes to begin with and then the 1.6 only had 2 bits for pipes.

Shouldnt affect how your car idles as long as its blocked off at both ends.

That pipe on my mk1 has been removed totally for some reason :wacko: it goes from the inlet manifold to the purge canister inside your drivers side wing then back to the fuel tank. The purge canister is something to do with balancing pressure in the fuel tank from what i've read

Yes that pipe is connected to the canister discharge electrovalve inside drivers side wing.The canister is connected to the fuel tank to prevent petrol vapours from entering the atmosphere (anti-pollution).The canister is a cylindrical container equipped with an active carbon filter.
The electrovalve, monitored by the injection ECU, allows the petrol vapours stored in the canister to be recycled.
The throttle housing allows the petrol vapours to be recycled to the air inlet .
Don't remove canister discharge valve because ECU will illuminate MIL lamp on the dash ;)
