Opening smoothed boot

Just got hold of a smoothed boot, so has no boot lock. How do I wire this in so i can open the boot, and what bits will I need to buy to do so? And is it easy to do?

use a bit of strong string over a pulley on the roof that feeds into the drivers area... pull when you need to open
