Hi guys,

I have replaced both wishbones, ball joints, drop links on the front of my vts and still I have a knock when turning.

The car is lowered 40mm on Spax PSX kit (which I know are common to have play in the shocks). I have had the car at Peugeot Ecosse to get 4 wheel alignment done and the guy said that the shocks were fine.

I then had the car at the local garage and they said that the anti-roll bar is hitting off a part of the chassis as the car is lowered. I have never heard of this before but decided to get the garage to change the anti-roll bar bushes using genuine Citroen ones to try and eliminate the knock.

The knock is still there however, any ideas??? Could this point at the top mounts needing done??

Any help/ideas appreciated,

Chewy

Check your driveshafts

Will do, would I not hear a constant knock if the driveshafts were gone though?

it is usually the cv joints that go and when you turn a corner either one will flex and if there is little or no grese in the bootd they will wear and then start to knock

I will have a look into the cv joints, is there an easy or obvious way to tell if they are needing replaced?

yes try jacking it up and checking for play in the steering i had the same problem with my furio it turned out that it was the passenger side wheel bearing that had collapsed and was allowing the driveshaft to move about! hope this helps

you cant check for cv joint by jacking it up if the boots are split then pretty much 99% the joint will have gone

Also i believe top mounts can cause this... best bet is open bonnet and check for any play while a mate turns the steering wheel try and locate this way. Mates saxo had same problem.

Is there an easy way to check if the top mounts are needing replaced without stripping everything down?

iirc just get a mate to turn the wheel to you get the knocking sound while your under the bonnet you should be able see movement if its gone.

Had a mates vtr that was gone this is how he done it, i was the one turning the wheel lol
