I couldn't sell a car without telling the new owner all of the problems, I done that with my VTR, sold it quicker being honest with the new owner!

Knew you shouldn't have bought it.

It's a gutter for me aswell (obviously not as much as for you), but I loved that car, had so many good times in it, and it was near mint when I sold it.

Such a shame that she's ruined what was once a sound car.

Bad times mate

+1

Seems like you didn't check it over enough/didn't really know what to look for.

Hard luck mate, better luck next time eh? :n:

She tried blaming me for some of them after she had bought the car and put some miles on it, so I'd go with yes.

No idea

My gut feeling is that they knew about the exhaust and the engine noise but thats just speculation, i have nothing to back that up.

Unsure on the axle, its not making a noise so unless you had the car on ramps you wouldnt know.

It passed an MOT 8 months ago and I have the failure sheet and there is no mention of it on there. Can only assume the axle went since then

I may be able to help you out with the rear beam buddy, i've got a 106 GTi beam going for £150 lowered 60mm the proper way - can even fit it for you if you're interested.

Let us know (or Aruffell as i'm away for a few days from friday.

I take it you current beam is a disk beam?

It was indeedy.

She also snapped the downpipe about a month after she got it off me, may have done the brace then.

Personally I would get it repaired. At least then you are left with a car with new parts on it, and the longer you own it, you know what parts been replaced and how its been treated (because you are driving it)

Noise underneath could be as simple as a driveshaft, no idea, just throwing it out there.

Its not like the shells rotten and it requires £££ of welding, chin up and get the jobs done mate, in my opinion!

No it wasn't, it was my old VTR, which I sold to Nicolala, who sold it in it's current state to the OP

It was indeed.

The beam is mega common so you should have picked up on that when buying i. Just bin the lower strut brace, its pretty uncommon for them not to be bent in some way anyway.

As for the exhaust you can prob get one off here for 100 quid and fit it yourself. The grinding might just be something simple like the alternator tensioner, drive it untill it gets worse then get another engine for it.

Ive bought quite a few cars, and anything below 2k has always needed some kind of work on it to get it upto standard.
