Sounds like a lot of young people, pass the test and think they can drive like a god, want to show off and crash. Obviously doesnt apply to all.
Gutted for him though.

This is why I say numerous times, if you fail twice then you should be forced to take x amount of extra lessons before being allowed to take test again

i find all the better drivers i know passed 2nd/3rd time and worst 1st time.
i do think that engine restrictions should be implemented tho for the first two years to make sure they dont jump into powerful cars.

I had a 50 hp diesel for the first 6 years of my driving life, it didn't stop me going far too quickly in torrential rain, icy conditions, night time etc. I do agree that some form or restriction needs to be in place but it means having manufacturers produce 30 hp cars - which won't happen.

I passed second time, two years ago, and I've never so much as clipped another car... or anything else for that matter. I have friends who passed first time and they can tell the same story. I don't think how many times you take your test has much to do with how good a driver you will be... if he failed 4 times he's probably a cunt, and was therefore probably driving like a cunt, hence crashing like a cunt.

I passed first time, had the car bang on a year today, not a scratch on it. As said, probably went flying round.
When I first passed, i was crap because I was used to a diesel, parents both had diesels, learnt in a diesel etc, and was not giving mine enough revs when moving off, and was also really nervous of damaging it.
Now I don't even think about it now, he should have his dad as a passenger for the first few days to shout at him if he's being a looney lol.

Lol another story of male youths and their egos. Some people grow out of it, some dont experience it, some never change.
Oh well hopefully its a lesson learnt, even if it was the hard way..

f*cking lol, is that was said to you to make you feel better about failing?
this is only ever said to make people feel better about failing.
fail - not meeting the required standard, not good enough, can't drive etc
it doesn't mean - you haven't passed because you are too good and you are much beyond the required standard so we don't want to let you have a licence.
failing means you sucked, and you weren't good enough.
anyway, on topic, the guy who crashed failed on an epic level and deserves to be pointed and laughed at :y:

Yer, cant say i am surprised to be honest. i dont know the kid, but i guarantee he was showing off.
well theres a valuable lesson to be learnt here kids.
You cant expect to be as good as a driver as i am right away. takes years of practise... and alot of luck that am not already dead! lol
seriously though, i hope this teaches him and his mates and so on a lesson.
Hope all is well and he didnt injure himself, or more importantly anyone else.
Pics of said Saxo?
People need to realise that you cant just get in the car, full of confidence (which is good) and drive like a rally driver on day one/week one (which is bad) because there always going to wrap it up or even worse kill some1.
People need to realise that they should abide by the laws of the road within reason. doing 35/40 in a 30 zone isnt the worse thing ever, if you are keeping up with the flow of traffic or no1s about... but damn right driving like you stole it is 1 sure way of asking for death...
My insurance is always ridiculously cheap so not bothered about that!

I passed first time, test was a piece of piss, crashed within 2 weeks of driving, driving like a dickhead! Was 100% down to inexperience, learnt my lesson from that and haven't had any trouble since (9 years of driving)
I think an accident in your first year is a good wake up call

I think it can be to drivers who think they own the road. Personally i've been driving a year but from the start knew that driving in a 70 in a 30 takes the piss a little lol. Its just common sense when you think about it.
The worst i had was getting 3 points for a 9 second phonecall when stationary in a carpark, but keys were in ignition so still got three points. Then i heard about a dude in the year below me at school doing 80 in a 40 and ending up spinning his car and going down a ditch, with two passengers in the car and not getting any points as 'nobody was injured'. Takes the piss :panic:
As said, driving is common sense. 45 in a 40 isn't right but isnt particularly dangerous. If somebody writes off their car on the day they've passed then its obvous they've been larking about.

yeah its annoying. My dad used to be a copper and one of my mates dad still is, they both said that i was extremely unlucky. My dad actually said 'your 17, wearing a hoody, in a saxo. a goldmine to any police'.
My godmother actually had the same, pulled into a side road with the engine still on but stationary on the phone and got 3 points. if the keys are in the ignition then you are 'in control of the car'
Kinda like sleeping drunk in your car, can still be done for drink driving if your asleep on the backseat.

yeah i know about the sleeping in the backseat but if a copper tried this on me id probably face plant my head into the car and say that the copper did it ;) haha coppers are absolute cunts nowadays..had 2 of them come up to me..1 bloke sat in the car..1 woman absolutly up herself like mad!.. not as good as it sounds..
well so she checked my friends car over.. was all fine..then began to check mine..checked the tyres..the tax..the insurance..then wanted to check all the lights worked.. so she stands round the back i turn the ignition on brake lights on. working fine..going good so far..she asks me to put indicators on...so clicked the stalk up for the right one..wasnt working..so she smiled to her buddy sat in the car and pulled out her little note book..then i realised had to have the engine on for indicators..so did them worked fine..oh little piggy was dissapointed..
after this i realise i should of just pressed the hazards haha..oh yeah also i had 2 number plate bulbs out, and 1 bald tyre..oh and she was blonde haha

10th August 2010, 01:17
Anything to get their numbers up eh?!
Was out last week and got pulled for no reason. He said he thought one of my rear tyres was illegal, but i had it replaced like a month ago and its still perfect so obviously thought 'hey a youngen in a saxo'.
Yeah id say the hazards were probably the best way ;) i would have shit it if something was wrong with my car :L

Passed my test second time, thought i was collin mcrae.. Smashed my second car within 4 months ( rear ended someonen who slammed their brakes on for no reason ) Calmed me down a fuck load otherthen smashing my third car up 5mph on ice on a 90degree corner i havent had a tap in almost 3 years. I pay through my ass at almost 20 for a vtr. Totally agree their should be an engine restriction on how long youve passed. My ex missus at 17 could insure a modded gti for less than im paying on my vtr now..

I crashed my first car within 5 days, misjudged a dodgy junction and had a car hit me. Second crash was over 6 months later, rear ended an ibiza when traffic suddenly stopped! That was 2 years ago now, havent crashed my saxo once but had many brown trouser moments! Now paying 1k tpft on a vtr :-) the same junction nearly got me the other week!
