my window wiper broke in the snowy conditions over winter and had a jagged edge that has scored the window all the way from the bottom to the top of it rotation, its near the end of the lenght of window wiper.. plus its the drivers side

if its not that bad youd get an advisory....but that would be the minimal...it will definately be noted

Check out the MOT sticky at the top of the problems and queries section!
It probably would be a fail or an advisory atleast because if water was to freeze whilst inside of the scratch mark (dependent on how deep) it will expand and break the glass.

I've got a feeling that it will only fail if the scratch/large stonechip is in the direct vision of the driver, in the middle of the screen on the drivers side, as mine failed on this last year because of a big stone chip

Not if you take it anywhere round here..
Car doesn't even need to start if you pay an extra 20 quid, it'll pass.

if the damage is larger than 10mm within the swept area on the drivers side it'll fail, with yours being on the edge it will most probably pass with an advisory even though it goes from top to bottom
