Been thinking of having my VTR lowered. I have no idea what is involved in doing this but i have noticed that there are APEX kits on ebay around the £60 mark. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there kits are ok, and how much would a garage normally take to fit these? And is there anything else i need to buy? I'm sure there is another thread about this but i honestly can't find it so sorry for creating another one.
Thanks alot.

Think you will find that is only the springs, best if you get the shocks too

Yep, it is only the springs mate. How much would i be looking at for the shocks as well? and what do i look for to find them? Any particular ones?
Sorry for all the questions, i am clueless with cars.

Ah, just found some APEX shock absorbers on ebay for just over £100 which fit a VTR. Does that sound about right? Another seller is selling them closer to £200. Are these essential?
Thanks.

I bought the complete apex kit a while back from KAM racing, an affiliate on here.Springs and front and rear dampers. Cant tell you how good/bad it is as am just in the middle of a major suspension/braking overhaul.
Personally I wouldnt fit new springs without new dampers, as it is best to have them matched. To lower the rear you need to get the torsion bars done. Loads of info on that in the forums, just do a search. I also chose to do most of the bushes on my suspension too

Starting to sound like there is quite a bit of work involved. Considering i wouldn't be able to do the work myself, it could end up being pretty costly. If it was just the springs and shocks i needed it would probably be fine.

Find someone on here to do the job for you, much cheaper. just make sure it is someone who lowers the rear the correct way

I just contacted a place called DCPerformance and they said that these kits contain everything needed. Would you agree? He said these kits contain all the springs and dampers.

The one thing is, i can't decide wether to lower by 25mm of 50mm. What should i take into account before deciding? Like i say, i'm very inexperienced with car mods so the more advice i can get, the better.

What is this torsion thing? Is it just something that i'll need adjusted or something else i'd have to buy?

Cool, thanks mate. The guy from DCPerformance just got back to me and said the apex kit contains 4 dampers and 2 springs as there are only 2 springs on a saxo VTR. He said that should be everything i will need. Is that right enough?

Thanks mate. I have no idea, i'll just have to find someone when i actually buy what's needed. It will probably be the mechanic i usually go to for general repairs. I'm assuming he will know how to do it and he's always been fair with his prices.
By the way, how do you find the 50mm kit? Do you have any problems carrying any sort of weight in the back of the car or anything like that?
Cheers for your help, much appreciated.

35mm (http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/category_results.mhtml?category=apexsuspensionkits&car=citroensaxo&manufacturer=apex&sub_category=1) is the best compromise between looks/handling (in my opinion). All depends how/where you are going to drive it how low you go.

nah, speed bumps are fine, obvs take them slow. theres only one around by me thats huge, and gota take it really slow.
ask him how he does the torsion bar first to see if it's the correct meathod of doing it.
my advice would be getting someone of here to do it for you! will be cheaper, and the correct way!

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I'm considering buying the Apex -35mm suspension kit from KamRacing for my VTS to use on track. First off, is this kit good enough for track work? Secondly, the Bilstein setup like this seems really popular, but is it really worth the extra cost in comparison?
I'm trying to keep my modification costs down to a minimum, but I'd rather spend a bit more to not sacrifice quality.
