View Full Version : Rear Brakeshoe Adjuster Plates

I need to get some new brake adjuster plates (not quite sure what they're called) that fit onto the brake shoes against the little levers. They should have ratchet teeth on them, but they've worn almost smooth!

In the pic below I've arrowed the 2 silver coloured plates I'm after.

Anybody know where I can get just those 2 bits at a sensible price? So far I've found I can get them in a full rear brake kit from ECP for £62 - but I only need those 2 bits!

I've put a post in the wanted section - but it's probably more of a supplier question.

Thanks.

when I bought some new rear pads, i had to transfer my old adjuster plates onto the new pads.

£62 isn't too bat though, at least you'll have the car back on the road and you won't risk having part worn 2nd hand ones on there.

Just buy a set of new shoes. They'll come with all the adjusters and rubbish.

My mintex ones sure did anyway.

The shoes don't normally come with the big levers/plates on the back as far as I know - I've asked in several places. They come with the little lever and spring attached - but nothing else.

So, for the time being, I've used a junior hacksaw blade to cut some new teeth into the back plates! I'll see how that goes for a while.

Try dealers, believe it or not they are cheaper

i held mine with some grips to the position i wanted then spot welded them there.

not the best solution because they dont self ajust...

but when they go a bit crap again just brake the weld and do it again :)

cheapest option i know :)

how'd you get your drums on and off then!? As you adjust the pads all the way in to get the drum off and on, then they adjust back to position for braking when you use the brakes.

I wouldn't want to weld it at all

you have to weld it just in the right place so the drum just about fits on.

usualy grinding the lip on the actual drum itself helps gettin it on

but onces its on you can leave it untill they need ajstung again :)
