Why would you want to remap a van?
It sounds peculiar to me. I guess an increase in torque and power but surely the vans are powerful enough for their purpose?

To make it quicker obviously! 99% of cars are 'powerful enough for their purpose', i.e. road travel. But that doesn't stop people wanting more power!
Transporter ftw.

don't break the saxo too many of them getting broken. They are going to be a classic like the 205GTI one day

I don't have anything to reply with. I'm satisfied with that response.

Only quickly scanned the replys but to easily reply the best van is a transporter, i have a 04 plate one.
Merc's rust badly seen year old ones with serious rot.
The vauxhal, nissan.renault thing the vivaro is awfu built like shit but is cheap.
Transit is a transit at the end of the day good work horse lol.. but you need an 06 onwards with the gearstick on the dash the floor ones are stone age in comparison.
As for smaller vans nothing is worth looking at but Transit connects or Caddys if you can afford one there mega money vs connects.

Ive had to drive a fair few vans for work. My list of favourites based on speed, comfort, mpg, handling and ease of driving goes like this.
VW Transporter, great van, pulls and pulls and still does good mpg. Plus vw reliability(These should remap pretty well as with all VAG engines)
New Ford Transit, possibly not as fast as the Transporter but fun all the same, and handles pretty well, even when full of machinery and stone.
Merc Sprinter, was decent enough, didnt accelerate too well but on the motorway it just ate the miles. Newer ones are much nicer after going in my mates one.
Renault Traffic, actually alright, nothing special though.
Peugeot Partner, good vans, the new engines are pretty good too, plenty of pull. Space in these always surprised me as they dont look very big. By far one of the better handling ones too.
Old Ford Transit, pile of junk, although had a bad example. The gears as have been mentioned were on the floor and aweful. interior also let it down and wasnt very comfy on long trips
LDV Pick up, hate this, drove to site, then told one of my workers to drive it home. Just didnt get on with it at all, slow too.

Sprinters and Vito's are pretty quick for vans although not that reliable.
I would go for a Transit personally.

People who mod vans need a fucking slap! Theyre to make you money that is all when you spend money on them it kind of goes agaisnt the point of having one..
I do want the little spoiler they do for the transporters rear doors though
EDIT: And to add to my earlier point of mercs being rust buckets my 04 transporter has stone chips on the front with bare metal that are about upto four years old and there is zero rust on the van, chippy i know has a 04 Vito and its covered in rust.. Last mot he was told itll need welding on the seals to pass next year :S
