I am thinking of doing a engine conversion on my car, upgrading it to a 2ltr Turbo which will be running around 220bhp.

So i will need to upgrade the brakes, after speaking to a mechanic friend he said a rear disc conversion is ideal but with lack of weight over the back end (stripped out) it will cause the back to lock up alot in the rain and in dry under heavy braking. He said decent drums adjusted correctly are suitable enough with big brakes on the front.

Does this sound about right?

what car is it and what brakes are going to be fitted to the front? You have drums now?
If you convert the rears to discs you can run some decent compound pads on the back that will cope with any extra heat.

Its a ZR, with a T-series engine fitted which are 200bhp as standard.
Few mods due to be put on in next week or so...
It has drums on the back at moment, and has got

MG VVC 160 front calipers, Braided brake lines, Brembo grooved and drilled discs with EBC red stuff pads

Well the advantage of discs at the rear is they can run cooler than drums.
I dont see why you would need to do a drastic change for the sake of 20-40bhp extra. Get some high quality brake pads rather than EBC

Get some high quality brake pads rather than EBC as these are like stopping with wood the pedal feels so hard not good
