Surely at 20 you can get insured on something a bit better than a 106 Gti?!

i've not really looked into much , a 106 gti is about 1200 and a mk4 golf 1.8t is 1700
always like eg civics but can't afford a minter

has the magic 21 actually turned to 25?
I was reading in the newspaper the other day that your insurance wont drop as much when your 21 anymore. Instead 25 is now the magic number for the quote drops

Past group 14 i'm sure you go up an insurance band. Thats what I was told from Swinton insurance
Tommo87
21st August 2010, 08:15
Up a band what a load is shit, just bite the bullet and pay what it costs for whichever car you want.
As for the civic idea unless it's a shit ESi want you'll struggle as even the UK VTi is group 16.

21st August 2010, 09:36
nah, insurance groups aren't as strict as they appear, some cars that are insurance group 17 could be cheaper to insure than some that are 14 I found when doing quotes for when I'm 20 with 3yrs NCB

Vauxhall Astra 2.2i SRI. A fine beast of a car.
Coincidently I'm selling my girlfriend's one at the moment!

The only problem with insurance going down as yo uget older is the cars you want get more expensive

Don't think so. They're not without fault but they're fundamentally fairly solid.
Here's mine for sale, while we're on topic

seems about right i bought my vts when 22 it was 800quid fully comp. iam 25 now when my insurance runs out in feb with 6 years ncb (it lowered 40mm) best quote i could get 488quid with hastings ill been driving 7 years. i find vauxhall are cheap to insure. how about a astra 1.8 16v coupe group 9e. peugeot 206 xsi are nice cars. or a pug 306 hdi bring it up to 120bhp and good mpg

erm its alright day to day best bit about it is the turbo pssh and the brakes..
its a ford, iv had a few niggles... just like you'd get with any car as the miles go up however i know for sure i wouldnt hav got any of these niggles with the civic type r
i like owning the rs better than the typ r anyway :y: but over a 5year period i would take the civic purely for reliabilty :y:
HOWEVER id take cash over any car all day long, dont blow all of your money on a car :) good luck with the search, drive all sorts of cars mate

A few hundred more and you can buy mine, it's insurance group 17 though. But pretty much standard bar a momo steering wheel and PIAA wheels.

yea did it earlier this year,
its to provide a 'better quote and service' due to the groups being much more accurate!
just to get more money!
