Was driving home from bath to london today and the car was fine. got into london and the car started to knock from the front end there has always been a bit of a knocking sound sort of like the exhaust against sub frame or body. had a look at my driver side Drop Link and looked kind of fookd. Could this be the problem? and how much knocking would it cause?
Cheers

yes a fucked drop link would cause knocking, amount depends on how fucked it is, also check the wishbone ball joint to make sure that is ok

What would a fucked ball joint look like? Just like worn away? Think mines gone as there is a loud knocking noise over speed bumbs and I already replaced the drop link so it cant be that.

visually the gaitor could be split best bet is jack the car up and support on an axle stand then if you a lever bar or large screwdriver put some pressure on the wishbone pulling it downwards to see if there is excessive movement in the ball joint itself

Just had a look and basically this week i done a wheel bearing on the N/S wheel because there was loads of play in it after i done the driveshaft seal. So just jacked it up again now and got the EXACT same problem maybe even worse. and i wheel bearing wouldnt fail after 250 miles. so im thinking could it be a dodgy hub?

How long have you had the car ?
wouldn't a fooked drop link not just make bump worse ? making you feel every bump roads have to offer.

like ive said before in another thread a guy from this forum steviee90 had this problem ...
basically kept happening because his car was a Cat C.
Why dont you pm him and ask him the problems he had with his saxo and find out you had the same type of symtoms

Its not the driveshaft tho its the wheel bearing that is working loose?

Just curious, would changing drop links cause the tracking to change at all?

no the a/r/b link wouldnt change the tracking and i had a fooked hub which caused my wheel bearing to fail in about 7 days go to your local scrappy you can pick one up for about 20 quid

did you fit the right wheel bearing as there is 2 different ones for tappered and non-tappered drivshaft
