Hi all,
I have had a search on internet using google, youtube etc to try and figure out the differences of both.
I currently have an iphone and can get bored easily and see alot of people using android phones and wanting to know what it is really.
I thought people on here may have had iphones and switched to android or vice versa.
Just after some advice/info etc?
Thanks

Ive just recently got the HTC Desire, after owing an iPhone.
Welcome change to android, but it is a learning curve. Worth it imo however.
I didn't like being tied into the apple way of things.

The guy I live with bought a HTC Hero running Android same time as I bought my IPhone 3GS.. 8months down the line he wants an IPhone 3GS and I'm still happy.
I do like Android but its just seems to be not as well made as iOS however there seems to be a lot more you can do with it, my flat mate tried a few of the custom versions out but most of them just crash all the time.

So worth the upgrade then!

I can't justify the upgrade from 3GS running iOS 4.0 to an iphone 4 but if Android is quite a difference then I would!

What is dual core?
Basically at the moment the desire has a single core 1ghz processor.
a dual core processor has 2 cores, so if its a 1gz dual core its actual clock speed is 2gz, there for faster, assuming the applications are programmed to make use of both cores.
The desire is a very nice phone, i wouldnt look at the HD2 though, its windows mobile not android.
Im sticking with my 3gs until new HTC phones come out i believe just after christmas.

As stated, I currently have an Iphone 3GS on contract and i'm paying £40 inc vat per month and I get 600 minutes, unlimited texts, e-mail/internet etc.
I have spoken with Orange about upgrading and they have offered me a HTC Desire with 600 minutes, unlimited texts, internet/email for £30 inc vat per month.
So it will be £10 cheaper per month but will I miss my Iphone or will the HTC Desire be just as good plus more?
Anyone on here have a HTC Desire?
Thanks

If you miss the iphone you could change back and sell the HTC then either keep 3gs, or use the money you made from selling the HTC to go towards a iphone 4.
I have used the HTC desire and its a decent phone, but alot of the features only a, for lack of better word, geek would appreciate lol! I myself would appreciate alot of the geekier features, but i cant warrent buying a new phone yet.

I would most probably sell the Iphone on one of the sites on internet e.g. Mazuma, envirophone etc. They buy them on there for around £200 so would have some cash pocketed.
I have searched and watched reviews etc on android phones and they do look nice. Still trying to figure out the whole android thing.
I use my Iphone for internet browsing, e-mail, facebook, twitter, msn, facebook chat etc.... Will I still be able to do all of this on the HTC?
Thanks

Yeah you could do all of that, im not 100 percent sure if there is a windows live app, but im sure there must be with the amount of people who develop for android.
You must have a friend with a HTC, loads of people have them now, go ask if you can use it? Or i believe in some shops like carphone warehouse etc they will let you have a go with phones, just say your not interested and leave after you use it.

I cant give personal opinion on this, however I do know a friend that had the original iphone 3g, he loved it, but then was offered the android HTC desire as an upgrade a few months back, took it, and now wants the new iphone 4. From what he said his HTC crashes alot, the amount and variety of games are crap and the battery life is shocking - although he did mention there is a big new software update coming out for it shortly.
So hes going to stick his 12months contract out with the android, get himself a new 64gb ipod touch (for the games) and then come back to whatever the next iphone is once his contract is up.

My Galaxy runs Android 2.1, and whilst it's great most of the time, occasionally it runs slow, and freezes at times too, which is annoying. Battery life sucks, epically.

Bro is regional bod for CPW, gets all the new handsets to try. Android is good, but not as good as iOS4.
No other handset is as good as the iPhone 4 either.
HTC desire is the most impressive non-iPhone i've used though.

IVe also got the Galaxy, i agree with it running slow and freezing but there is an anti lag patch available on the net if the phone is rooted (Jailbreak for andriod)
I had the G1 when it came out and found it better than the 3g,
but its down to personal opinion like MS & MAC.
In the future i will stay with Android due to the launch of 2.2 coming soon, and hopefully that will get rooted when its launched.
