I had a small bump with another car today, was coming upto a junction where the 2 roads merge, and was watching in the mirror, A bmw flashed me out, so i pulled out then all of a suden bang, a Micra had gone from the far lane into myne as i was pulling out, i was only doing 5/10mph. I pulled in as did the other driver. I got out and admited full liability for it as i wasnt looking infront as i pulled out. The passenger of the micra got out and started moaning at me, i kept calm and admited it was my fault and i went to speak to the driver to swap details, i went to his window and tapped it, he wouldnt look at me, put the window down or anything, the passenger was like he dont speak english etc. I went "look love i need to speak to the driver of the car not you" she said

"my car my car my details, my insurance" which then led me to think he was driving un-insured. So i called the police as i wasnt going to hand documents over, when they turned up explained it all to them. They said not to worry at to go on my way. So i did so.
leaving them to deal the other vehicle. So he must have been un-insured driving his wifes car

Bit of an essay, but am so glad they sided with me for once

I know yeah. I could of put my hands up and swapped details with passenger. But as soon as driver refused to co-opertate i knew something wasnt right.
So i called police. I was tempted to just do 1 and leave them there. But thought if they call police ill get done for leaving scene of accident

Bloody hell. this one gets loads of punishment. Pulling heavy weight constantly. in the winter has to deal with country lanes. (steep hills) never had a problem with it. well only the front brakes. Has had 3 sets in 18 months. Discs kept warping.

Police can be cocks most the time, I fed up of being moaned at, or they tail me for few miles... does my head in...

I think they just run the plates through to check its legal hence why they follow me. But its damn annoying

Paul
3rd September 2010, 21:51
whys that then lol?

Because you're not qualified to determind whos fault it is.

Honestly, never accept responsibility at a scene of an accident, just pass on the details of your insurance, tell your insurance what has happened, let them decide. Also get contact details of any witnessess (preferably independant ones).
