What is it? The higher the octane the better the performance or something??

Only if the car can handle it will you see the benefits
the car idealy needs to be mapped on it or run a knock sensor to adjust the fueling to suit.

Higher the octane rating the higher the resistance to detonation. It means you can advance the spark timings and/or uses higher compression ratios or have a higher cylinder temp.

The results of which mean it can increase power - but not always - that depends on the engine design and the capabilities programmed into the ECU.

It means the boys with newer engines in newer cars prefer it because they think it makes thier car perform better :)

Mine is set to run on 98-100RON with the map

If I was to run the car on normal petrol it would run like a bag of shit
