Why do all these idiots have to raise PRE-FLOP?! The most annoying thing ever, just put in your blind and let's see the flop. This guy's doing it every hand without fail, it's so freakin' annoying.

pocket pair, or two high cards

rules out the chance of people seeing the flop for free, and maybe pulling in two lower card pairs, or the chance or a straight or flush.

consider some1 sitting 5,6 suited, with a relatively free flop(big blind) they would see the flop, but if some1 raises, they throw down. less chance of the fella raises loosing on "lesser" hands.

simple really.

Get what you mean but it's still really annoying. Every hand too, not like you're gonna get pair or at least face cards every deal.

Blinds are just so there's money in the pot to begin with. Someone posts a small blind someone posts big blind so say blinds are 5-10

Someone puts 5 for SB, 10 for BB, next has to call 10 to see flop and goes round then the SB has to put down 5 to call and BB has to check/raise.

Flop = the cards the dealer shows. Flop - fourth street (I think) then the river

5 cards in total.

LOL, well if it makes you fold, great success. Noob! Learn to play poker to different playing styles, don't expect people to play how you want them too or you're never going to win.

4th card is the turn card, not a 4th streak or watever you called it.

Don't see anyone in tournaments raising pre-flop unless they have a decent hand.

LOL. Are you actually retarded? (no offence, but that's a really retarded comment.. ) Ever heard of something called.... BLUFFING? If the only time people raised pre-flop was when they had decent pocket cards, then everyone would freaking know that and would just fold..

I don't think pokers your game..

The blinds are only 5-10, not like it's anything special.

you need to learn about different styles of play, and how to play other people, trends are the key to online poker, learn how they play against trends. either play tight, and call when you have hands, or gamble, based on the flop, and what "could" be in some1 else hand. you need to be prepared to gamble, otherwise you will get nowhere.

the tv is easy, because you see everyones cards, so its not really that good for learning.

Don't watch it on the TV, I had people round last night and won £20 (IDC what you think I'm saying when I say it(as in asw-ing), maybe it was beginners luck, but it's all good.

Believe what I want? I believe you won £20.. but you clearly have no idea about playing Poker, just making this thread gave that away!

If you're playing for a fun, fair enough, but if you're actually expecting to make any real money from it - it's a no go.

I'm on PKR playing at tables with play money. I don't play online for money.

Which is also why I'm posting this, it's not real money, not as if it matters if you win the blinds, you can request another 1k play money at any given time.

Anyone who doesn't raise pre flop from time to time is a bad player. You can't play game after game and hope to see flops for free and get lucky. Even if it means raisng pre flop with a bad hand, do it. Mix it up a bit, the more you mix it up the better, you don't want people to know your playing style. :y:

Online poker is no where near as good as actual poker around a table though ;)

if you fellas cant see the point in raising preflop its probably a good thing you dont play for money. its such an important part of poker and the preflop raise is how youll win most of the hands.

Jesus christ! He just said it was annoying.

And there really is no point doing it every time. If someone calls, you may get lucky, but the majority of the time you'll have to bluff. Agressive player's chip counts fluctuate a LOT.

You have to have a massive stack to make it work...

Yes you really do, gus hansen went all in pre flop for something stupid like 17 hands in a row once.

Just read you are playing with play money, That is why, once you play with real money people won't do it EVERY hand unless they have a bank account balance that doesn't go down.
