okay so i know its not a car... but when it comes to getting things looking sexy, this is the place to ask...
so its a white macbook, and its plastic obviously, and since the VT kit is plastic i figured you guys must have methods of removing scratches or at least making them less visible
so any ideas/suggestions welcome
if not then no worries :P

i have the mac book pro and my mate has the new mac book he uses general cleaning wipes for all over to get that new white look again and then a light wax to make it smooth and scratch free, i think its all a little too much and jsut use the wipes.

DO NOT DO IT.
The plastic is far too fragile and too volatile to heat therefore prone to warping.

Polishing a surface creates heat.

oh :/ enough to make it warp though?
ive already polished it once but didnt have much of an effect on the scratches, just make the rest quite smooth

Lool @ this thread. In all honesty thou, dont do much with it. Buy a nice case for it and then it will stay clean and scratch free!
Then when it comes to selling it will look brand new.
I bought a MacBook Pro, with the alloy unibody. 2 weeks later i dropped it on concrete floor.
Quote to fix it £750. Ouchies.
Thank god for insurance.

I have the late 2008 MacBook with the aluminium unibody. It's covered in scratches and there's even a dent on the side. I bought it to use not to look at :y:

Polishing a surface creates heat.
not that sort of polish just a simple plastic polish. christ.

Any polishing creates friction to remove scratches which equates to heat being produced. Christ...

obviously polishing = friction = heat...
but its not like im getting a machine polisher on it... just polishing, and surely the battery gets much hotter than i could polishing it by hand...

Ask apple for a quote on a new case fitted, if its the plastic one it may not be as expensive.
Do you have apple care with it? If you do then try and claim under that. I know when my mate had a problem with his disc ejector it was because he had dinted the side and then when it went for repair they replace the case (Macbook plastic case)

looked on the internet at new cases and its about £20 for the bottom case and £40 for the lid/screen case and knowing how apple love to charge stupid money for things like that, i doubt it would be worth it :/

You can get specific plastic polish. As long as you do it by hand you wont melt the plastic. I quite often polish up things like this, clock facias etc using fine cutting compound and I have never had any issues to date! Also works wonders on plastic headlights too when they go yellow!

I know it's an old thread but I can't see the heat from a DA being an issue on a mac. Think of the heat the screen produces when its turned on :S

It wont be an issue at all

I love the pictures of it in the car park haha, anyway back to the mac, as long as you dont apply too much pressure and keep making sure you dont heat up the plastic too much, it should not be a problem as-long as you are careful
